Okay so I bought an EF 70-200 F/4L yesterday. My wife wasn't too upset... so I went out today and bought a Canon EF 17-40 F/4L.

After getting the the first 'L' series lens my 18-55 was all of a sudden not up to standard... it's great for what it was worth but I'm now spoiled... I also bought the EF 50mm 1.8 II today to cover some of the gap between 40 & 70 abnd to have something for low light conditions.

I made sure to pick up B+W UV's for all of them so to protect them. I have to play now and see how they all work. Hopefully I can post some ribbon winning entries soon! ;) SO when my wife complains about my $2,200 lens, filter and accesories spree I can tell her: "but honey I might get a blue ribbon" :)

Bills? What bills?...

I'm really not trying to be a jerk, but why spend thousands on a lens or two when the retail value on your camera is way less? I think you'll be stoked to try that L glass on a better camera....I was ooohing and ahhhing over a 1DS at a camera store last night. Maybe take your lenses in, they might let you try out the camera.

Buying quality glass and a cheaper body makes better sense than the other way around, really. 300D pics are pretty clean, sharp shots, and the ISO sensitivity performs pretty well all in all.

Putting expensive glass on the front means you get less distortion, CA, softness, etc. Not to mention faster focus, better build quality, etc.

300D + L = sharp picture
1Ds + cheap lens = soft picture

It doesn't matter how good you camera is, if the lens is junk you won't get a sharp shot.

I've been thinking about it already. I wouldn't say the 300D is a 'bad' camera... but the 1DS is no doubt much better... it's only the matter of time...

But on the other side of the coin... great lenses with the 300D provides much better results than not-so-good lenses (18-55 etc.) on a 1DS.
