Hey PS gurus! I have a question about how to fix a couple of troublesome spots on a portrait I took of my son earlier today...
He's a cutie, huh! Ok, back to the issue... Here is a blow-up of the problem area...
See those yellowish areas? What would be the best way to fix this portrait? Thanks in advance for the help!!
p.s. Only processing so far is slight crop and levels - didn't know if that was important or not. |

The color replacement tool in Photoshop CS should take care of those areas easily - sample a skin tone nearby that you think matches what that area should look like.

The heal tool also can work wonders.

I haven't much experience with the color replacement tool but that's what I was thinking of using... Any tips or hints as to settings, getting the best result, etc.
Yeah Laurie - those kids get so messy!! I sometimes wonder if people think I just let the kid go DAYS without a bath :-) |

You can accomplish this really quickly and effectively using hue/saturation. Open the hue/sat dialog, select "yellows", then set saturation to -100.
Now you see the areas that will be affected clearly. Now move the sliders in if desired until only the areas you want to affect are gray (there are several more yellowish areas than what you originally highlighted, BTW). I left the sliders in the default position.
Now move the saturation slider back up to about -10, and adjust the hue toward the left. Play around until the effect is what you want. I wound up with hue -10, sat -8, lightness -2. |

tee hee hee! Man, if I didn't make that child bathe every day you'd be able to smell him from where you're at! |

Thank you ALL for the help! I tried your method, Kirbic, and it did the trick to my satisfaction. Thanks! |

I would first try the healing brush, second try would be the saturation, if it would not be ok by then I would give up :) (but that's me) |

Thank you!! Might be just a Mom's biased opinion but I suspicion that he's gonna be quite the heartbreaker when he gets older ;-) |
