"Be they everyday heroes like firemen, costumed Superheroes, or just a personal idol, we all understand the concept of a Hero. Submit a picture of a Hero, or that symbolizes Heroism. Whether the picture looks as if it belongs on a comic book or on the Mayor's wall for acts 'Above and beyond the call of duty', it should be dramatic and/or emotional."

I can't imagine this one not having been submitted before, but I really like it! Great idea.

I did six months ago.

That's why I didn't suggest superheroes even though I would not have a problem finding a subject. I must have a whole room of action figures :) |

Yeah, I understand that possibility, but that's part of the reason why I mentioned everyday heroes, and the Dramatic/emotive effect. It can be hard to convey emotion with a plastic figure, but if it can be managed, it would make for a good picture, yes?

Why does everyone have a stick up their butt about toys/figurines being used as a subject? I think people should worry more about their own entries and being creative and putting out a good shot than worrying about what everyone *else* might do.. and you *CAN* be darned creative with toys/figurines.. if you decide to take the time and do so.
Oy.
(and yes, I realize that many people *don't* take the time and just submit for submission's sake and blah blah blah.. but the less complaining we do, and the more we focus on our photography, the better it'll be for everyone.)
I guess I should take my own advice.
I need to start ignoring comments like this. LOL

We're more likely to see kiddos in superman underroos! I had Wonder Woman underroos when I was a kid... those were the days!

Much as I'd like to see Laurie in her underroos I don't think this is such a great idea for a challenge topic. It leaves a very wide area open to debate. As written it could be almost any photo that has a person in it, not to mention the symbolism part. I see lots of DMTC comments and forum posts. Too much chance for disagreement and disappointment.
to computerking- May I ask the source of your quote? Please. |
