Thanks! I should hopefully get it in a few days. Circuit City keeps going in and out of stock evidently, and it is the only outlet for them right now. But I paid for a slightly upgraded shipping so hopefully they really do have it and I will get it fast!!!! I can't wait!!! I will never learn Photoshop at this rate (now I will be pouring over the new camera manual! lol).

The same one? Or a different new camera?

And Christmas! Actually, if I had more patience, I could have waited until Christmas and asked the hubby for this, but NOOOOOOOOOO, I couldn't be that sane!!

I was thinking about upgrading to an FZ10 or FZ20. I dont see much difference between the two except 1.0 mp / 12mm zoom difference / f2.8 - f8.0 on the FZ20. I have a FZ1 but I have installed the FZ2 firmware so my camera has the Amp. F2.8 -8.0. Is there something im missing between the FZ10/20 before I upgrade.

I have read the forum threads there and folks here at DPC much more knowledgeable than I have told me quite a bit - but I am probably not capable of giving you a good answer. BobsterLobster and Sammie are current owners like yourself. For me this is an upgrade from a point-n-shoot Kodak. Sorry I can't help more!

Now that Kylie has her FZ20 maybe the FZ10s will go really cheap!
We wanna see some more great photos when you get this one in your hands! |

Why the Panasonic FZ20? What was the key reason for this choice? |

I have been thinking about it for a long time and a while back I was pointed in the direction of the FZ10. The upgrades to the FZ20 sealed the deal. I really don't want a DSLR yet, but something much more advanced than I have now. I have problems with camera shake, but shoot handheld a lot, so the stabilizer is a huge thing for me. From everything I have been told, the FZ20 has an excellent lens, range, capabilities, ergonomics, etc. It isn't TOO heavy or bulky for a small person (which I am). I wanted a 10+ zoom, and it has 12x optical. I could go on and on, but hopefully that gives you some idea.

Congratulations on your new Camera, Kylie! You will love it - I love my FZ10.
Someone was asking what are the improvements the FZ20 has over the FZ10. Here is an article that explains them:
Panasonic FZ20
It will have some signifigant improvements over the FZ10 - I think the 9 point autofocus will be very good. Also, the 5 megapixels. One major improvement is the ability to take photos is the TIFF mode - this way you can take uncompressed pictures. The FZ10 only takes pictures in jpeg.
The FZ10 is a fast camera but the FZ20 will be even faster so that shot to shot times are less. Also, I think the FZ 20 has an even better burst mode. The FZ10 will do a burst of 5 but I think the FZ20 will keep on in burst mode as long as you hold the shutter down until your card is filled up. I use burst of 5 a lot - endless burst will be even better.
Kylie had told me earlier she wanted to get the remote - I didn't even know you could get a remote but I see in reading the page in the link that you can get a remote for the FZ20. That will be so nice, it's so hard to jump back into the picture and get yourself in only 10 seconds on the timer! |
