I took my shot on my lunch break on the last day of the challenge.
I was looking for something else but didn't find it so for me, the score really doesn't matter...

I wish more people would comment the technique or should I say the lack of, because like I said earlier, it was my first day with my new camera in an uncontrolled environment and I don't fully know what I'm doing just yet and some people here sure know what they're doing...

I was at 4.84 when I looked this morning... :o( but I knew that it would probably be battered by the purists anyway. I just liked the image...it had some personal meaning for me. :o)

Just needed to make that the strong point of your post,
because that's what it really comes down to.
NONE of us should toss or degrade a shot that WE really like,
just because someone else didn't like it.

Photography is personal and perceived in as many ways as there are people.

I'm hanging around the 4.0 mark.. which is fully what I expected.
I was hoping for more comments myself.. I left a tonne.. even if they weren't always what people wanted to hear. Sorry if that's true folks! Just remember that because *I* say something about a photo, doesn't make it true! I'm just one voice of a thousand..

I just want the next challenge to show up already... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I'm frustrated! I certainly don't expect win, but I'm at a 4.02. This is lower than my neon score (4.2) and it was a bad picture. I was hoping for another five something, but I guess people didn't like my idea of hope. It is a better pic than my neon entry though!

It's pretty solid, but I'm a little disappointed. Some people docked me though because they felt it didn't work with the challenge, because it was a loss of hope, and not actual hope it's self. Oh well.

I'm a little disappointed because I really thought I had a winner here. Not a ribbon winner, but a shot good enough to score in the high sixes, possible top 20 finish. I'm most surprised by the lack of comments but I think a lot of people do what I do and sweep with an initial vote and then come back and tweak and comment later.

I'm not expecting it to get any better - only worse - but the photo was very personal to me although it may not look like it!

It was more of the situation and the 'unplanned' photo that made it that way! Maybe I should have pulled my submission but I have missed the past couple of weeks and look forward to seeing the comments. Wish we could have more of those!

I have the opposite I think, I didn't expect my pic to do well. I didn't get the time to shoot what I wanted and had to then use a backup photo I had, wasn't very happy with the image, but looks like DPC voters liked it. I am at 6.75 now and this might be my second top10 finish :)

I hope your trend holds. My limited experience has shown that the average tends to stabilize at around 60-100 votes, but then gets a big bump right at the end. If this happens in your case, you could finish near 7 and be in the "money."

You get 150K for your photo. I think if you save a 640x640 photo with jpeg quality 10, you will be under the limit.

Lynn, I got a comment from you and found the helpful too. I really appreciate your effort in commenting on the phtographs and it helps. well as you can see I don't comment a lot, only 10-15 per challenge, but now I have been trying to leave comments as much as I can..I need to get time off my day-time-engineer and night-time-student schedule.
