I'm interested on getting some feedback on this rose shot.
It's my first attempt at such an image and I'm curious how it might be improved upon.

Good 8:1 lighting, and you used the dead space well. I also think you brought the true colors out.
The only suggestion I have for improvement would be to add a beautiful woman in the shot.

Thanks, Jeffrey. I'm curious, what do you mean by "8:1 lighting", exactly? And I agree about the beautiful woman bit...I'll have to go wake the wifey for that...:) |

Any other opinions? I'm wondering if I've cropped too much from the bottom. There is more there from the source image, but it seemed extraneous.

It's lovely... I really like the negative space, and the red against the black. I keep wishing for just a touch more light on the rose...maybe on the left side/bottom (as you are looking at it)...not a lot, just a smidge. Maybe that's just me. But it's beautiful as it stands as well. :o)
