What kind of resolution do you need?

When I've been in market for new camera what I have done is created a spreadsheet with one column each for all the things that are relevant - battery life, which type of media card, image resolution and quality, aperture control, shutter control, min and max ISO, and a whole lot of other things.

Then I go to somewhere like dpreview and fill in the sheet for every camera in my price range.

Makes choosing a lot easier.

For me.

PS I use the spreadsheet to narrow to 2 or 3 models but decide ONLY once I've held them in my hands and checked how the shape and position of buttons etc feel.

Olympus C750UZ
Olympus C5060WZ
Panasonic FZ-10
Fujifilm S7000

Not all really fit that $400 budget, but close enough depending on where you hunt for bargains, me thinks....

Thanks for reply, Pixel dont matter as i have 1.92 Mega Pxel camera now but it was not meant for studio work. i.e I use External Flash , so i had to use Peanut Slave. It is not working now and i need a new camera .

I dont print than 8x10 that too very rarely and strangely my 1.92 was more than enough for that, it did lack some sharpness but beggars cannot be choosers.

One camera i really like but bit out my budget( i would have to buy Extra Card) is PananSonic's DMC FZ-10, i think it is a under rated camera but one negative issue is it has Proprietary Battery and that i hate. any Idea how much battery cost

And check the colour matchesthe shoes / clothes you normally photograph in ;-)

I guess one of the issues here is the external flash.
Of course another option is to look for more expensive cameras, like the Sony F707 or F717 on e-bay or something.
It also takes proprietry batteries.

Couple of Question for 750 users,

External Flash Possible is Possible right. Should one used Safe Trigger when attaching external Flash. Does it only have a Hot shoe or a PC Socket also

I was a member of another forum where one of the Photographer used 750, he said IR triggering is possible. Is it right

it has a hotshoe tho i dont know much about safe triggers. no PC socket for the flash. and by IR triggering i am assuming you mean using an remote? yes, a remote comes with the camera. remote controls zooming as well.

By IR meant was Infra Red Triggering.

So any 750 users used external flash.

In general what precaution one should take while attaching external flash with Digital camera

Not into shoes at all and not particularly into clothes... of course I do wear them... not butt nekkid all the time... but... hate clothes and shoe shopping.

I love my FZ10, but for macro photography in this price range, only Fuji and Nikon are worth considering IMO.

I normally compare rates at bizrate.com and Price grabber, any other place that i should consider

The issue with external flashes is that older flash models may have very high trigger voltages and modern digital camera hot shoes only support low voltages. These numbers are usually not stated by the manufacturers, but usually the "safe" zone is below 6V.

There are products such as the Wein SafeSync which protects the camera's electronics from old high-voltage flashes. You can also use a volt meter to measure the trigger voltage of a flash before mounting it though I am not too familiar with this technique.

Hope that helps,
