To me, it appears more that she is allowing it to escape rather than exhaling it/forcing it out. As an ex-smoker, it looks odd to me. As always, your lighting and technique are perfect. I am just commenting on the "action" of the shots. Hope this makes sense somewhat.

As an ex smoker, smoke is always a real turnoff, Just has no appeal!

i had girls tell me that i was sexy because i am a smoker and i take extra care not to smell like one. and they really like that.. it shows you care and is a better outlook than a person who doesnt smoke and stink... |

smoking is sexy, its the politically correct times that say otherwise... hey my kids hyperactive lets medicate him, wow im getting older.. I cant get it up.. lets shoot for liver damage so I can have a boner for the next 48 hours... yea.. its the times and technology that are not sexy ;)

smoking CAN be sexy. There are all kinds of porn sites featuring girls who smoke. Perhaps it is not sexy to you, but it CAN be very sexy. It is to me. I think those pics are awesome. She looks so mysterious, and non-Nonchalant. Keep it up.

"sexysmoke" is just the name of the photos you know.. it is not a holly revelation from heavens,. i wanted comments on the photos from a photography perspective not from the social moral stand point.. i am a smoker and i find smoker ladies attractive. if you dont like smoking than dont smoke.. it is bad for you anyway. but please tell me something about the photos, not the smoking.. |

now that ericlimon suggested a skull, I see a "shape" in the first one.
kinda makes it look like a face of a spirit ... like she is possessed or something.. lol
If you can't see it for yourself, I'll show you, but see if you can see what I saw.
As for sexy.. matter of opinion I guess. My opinion, not sexy. :(
But, great technique.

I prefer the second shot. The crop is tighter, but still makes good use of the negative space, whereas in the first shot, her head is just sort of floating in the frame. The lighting is terrific in both shots, but I also think her expression is more interesting in shot #2 as well. I don't like looking straight on at her chin and nostrils in shot #1 as it is somewhat off putting.

I wasn't meaning to comment about the smoking - only that it looked odd to me over all. I think it can look very "sexy" (although I quit), but these look awkward to me. As I had said before, the photography is great.

Theodore: I feel your pain. I am a smoker since age 14. 66 and in perfect health. I love smoking.
Anyway, as you can see. When the government managed to set non smokers against smokers, they lash out with a fury and this is the way they vote. They do not even admire the image if it touches on a prejudice. These folks miss a lot because they have a shut off valve wherein their prejudice blinds their eyes.
The images are very nice. There is magic in smoke and I love it. I like the first shot better because I like to see the definition. Consider also lighting from the bottom. |

Well, I wasn't going to comment at all, but I don't think it looks like cigarette smoke at all. I don't mean to offend, but to put it plainly (meaning bluntly) she looks like you electricuted her, snapped a couple of photos of her smoldering corpse as it lay on the ground and then rotated them 90 degrees.
But I mean that in the nicest way possible to one of the best portrait photographers on the site.

Could not agree more , to me it looks like they have not inhaled just puffed it out and seem to be unhappy.
If you take away the smoke I don't think you would be left with a sexy shot. |

Anything can be sexy. Anything.
Just depends on who you are, and what floats your boat...
That said, I'd really like to see your model open her eyes. Maybe even staring at the camera. As it is, she looks uncomfortable, even irritated. MHO
the edit : for an example of sexy smoke, think of marla singer in fight club exhaling. (you know the scene)
