Hate to be hard lined, but I don't have much pity for complaints about not being able to join either. With notable few exceptions, anyone who can afford even entry level photography ought to be able to afford $25 for 1 year. I have no trouble with folks not joining, but I can't identify with the complaints about not getting benefits.
Since the "can't afford crowd" would probably be mostly students, here's one way to look at it: At a smidge over $2 per month, that would be about equivalent to drinking one less beer in a bar per month during the year. I know it's not easy to cut back on the beer, but if you want to be a photographer you should probably be prepared to sacrifice more than that ;)
Now here's the corollary: Plan on taking great photographs and pricing DPC prints for $5 profit / shot. Sell 8 shots in a year and you pay for membership AND the inverse of hypothetically sacrificed beers. You can't loose!

You have wonderful prints Kavey - btw - if you don't mind me asking, do you get a lot of sales with DPCprints? And are you notified when you do get a sale? |

The tutorials and "how'd they do that" series got me to fork over my money. Even though they are free for anyone to use, I had to admire this site for including information I could easily spend $50 buying in a book store. Plus the different threads about techniques and such. It's the cheapest investment in an education one could wish for. I like feeling like I help d/l stay in business.
I have an idea for fairytales but need to find a really small person to help. |

Thanks Johanna!
In answer, I haven't made that much in sales yet. Prior to the recent DSWF project I had made about $26 in profits. The DSWF prints have all been added in the last 4 days and are being sold to raise funds for that charity. In these 4 days I have sold two of those, one smaller size and one 8x10. I know a couple of people are considering buying but haven't chosen which prints to buy yet.
I don't get notified so I keep torturing myself by checking there to see my Sales Report. Since I launched this project I have been checking several times a day but usually I assume I haven't sold anything and then am pleasantly surprised to notice a new sale when I do visit.
If you know of anyone interested in animals please let them know about the charity sale!
THANKS!

how much is it to print with dpcprints if it's your own picture? i tried to find it on the site, but i couldn't find any numbers. is the quality better or comparable to other internet print shops? i'm thinking of becoming a member, and i'm just wondering if the dpcprints thing is going to be something to me. it'll be a long while before anyone else wants to buy a pic of mine...
umm... maybe i should have put this in as it's own topic in another forum... can i move it? sorry.

It's about 35 cents for a 4x5 and about 2.35 for an 8x10. Let me see if I can find the price list for you.
