The photography exhibit at this year's State Fair of Texas looks fascinating to me... The Greatest Generation is a collection of photos and artifacts from WWII, including Rosenthal's famous Iwo Jima flag photograph and many other recognizeable photos like this one. . If you're in the area from September 24 to October 17, it might be worth the stop in the Hall of State on the fair grounds... I can't wait! I am a little bit of a history buff, so this is right up my alley. I just thought I'd share, in case some of you have plans to be in the north Texas area in September or October.

Laurie

Thanks for heads up. I will have to be sure and check this out.

I love the fair! Last year I got a lot of nice shots.

If you are interested we could get together with our better halves and maybe do a shoot at the fair and maybe Danny and some others would like to join in? We could kick the idea around :)

Robin

Edit: I think the hardest thing I had to shoot was BIG Tex LOL

uh...yeah!!! LOL

That would be a great idea! But I'll leave my "better half" at home with the kids... if not, I'll be chasing them instead of photo opps! ;o)

Cool.
We'll bump this around a few times and see who else may be interested :)

I have been thinking about a possible Fossil Rim trip this fall if anyone might be interested. Say like October?

I may not have much time in September, we are looking at doing one or two art shows/festivals on the weekends in Sept.

I was at the fair grounds this morning dropping off my pictures for the creative arts exhibit and they've done a bit of renovating and changing since the last time I've been there. I also got to walk around a while and really look at the beautiful art deco architecture on the buildings (most built in the 30s). Unfortunately the weather here is grey and bleak today, so none of the pictures I took are really worth sharing, but if we could get some folks together for a state fair shoot, it would be a blast! The Embarcadero building is completely gutted and they're doing something new to it for the fair this year. It runs 9-24 to 10-17, so surely we have enough time to plan something fun.

I have to admit I was nervous dropping of my pictures... there were HUNDREDS of photographs submitted. Fingers crossed that they are all in other categories!! ;o)

Anyway, let me know if you are interested in a DPC get together for the State Fair of Texas... we'll have a great time, I'm sure!!!!!

Hey Laurie, My State Fair just ended today and the drunk carnies are packing up and comeing your way...Have fun...I'm done with my photos of the my state fair...most were blurry, never put a camera behind a drunk photographer...(tee-hee)...however, manage to take few good ones...in post edit right now...photo's are not really of the 'State Fair" more of other things that one might see elsewhere. that so happen to be at the state fair...a few good candids of some people looking at me while i photograph them...kinda funny....mostly women came up to me and ask if i was professional photoghrapher, drunk as I was. "why YESSSS, I am"....hmmmm chicks dig cameras....Anyway, peace.

LOL, I think that most of the females that came up to me were college kids from CMSU and perhaps thinking I was talent scout for a modeling agency, they made references to some companies as we talked.....However, had to let them down and state that I'm a (photo geek) who participates in online contests and looking for NEON lights to shoot....they quickly ran away, but, there were some cute one out there...However, you'd never know how that gate will swing....:)
