Oof! Survived my frist sensor swab. Can anyone spare a smoke?

I used this technique: Sensor Cleaning

I have to say that I am quite pleased with the results. No blue sky today, so I shot a white piece of paper with my 28-135mm at F22 and lit with the Canon 550EX. All shots were then processed in Photoshop using Auto Levels and Auto contrast only.

This was my original sensor -- warning: very gruesome. 17 months of dust accumulation:

Then I tried using my bulb blower:

Then I did the sensor swab procedure:

After sensor swab.

It's not perfect, but it sure is a lot better. I'll run the procedure a few more times. Looks like I need to get closer to the edges.

Wow! Thanks to EddyG, Kirbic, Jason, and other peeps for the tips.

Now, I won't just celebrate and get sloppy the next times I do it. I intend to use every precaution in the tutorial.

...that's what I preach every day...safe swabbing...it is the only way. The results of unsafe swabbing are life-altering and permanent...I am so glad you realize the importance of the matter. ;o)
