Yes, snow, it's winter at this end of the planet :-).

Snow in the Oaks ( ISO50 F/2.0 1/100th )
Power and Grace (ISO400 F/2.0 1/640th )

Taken in Christchurch (The big smoke, relative to where I live) last weekend when we got a bit of snow. Unfortunately didn't get enough at home to make me stay home on the Monday ;-).

The first one taken in Hagley park, I jumped out of the car when I saw the snow starting to settle under the trees. This is the first time in ages I've 'seen' a B&W photo before I took it. I've got a big (600x350mm) copy above my desk, and it's growing on me...

The second one I took thinking of a friend who is restoring a Morris Minor (the car). This car looked like it was having trouble making headway into the snow, and I thought the colour was just stunning against the grey light of the day. This was taken single-handed without using the viewfinder/lcd through the drivers side window. Ahem.

Hope You're all enjoying summer in the Northern Hemisphere :-).

I like the oaks shot a lot. Nice feeling of balance and depth.

It's going to be 35C here today...

I like the Oak one too. I'm more than a little overdosed on selective desaturation so I can't fairly judge the second one at the moment... seems nice enough.

I like the Oak photo as well. I bit of burning in the shadows and tree trunks might spark it up a bit, but the composition and peaceful feeling is nice.

Thanks for everyones comments,

I did muck around with burning in the shadows a bit to get a better range of tones, and settled for the one you see here.. at 100% it looks quite a bit better, as there is quite a bit of 'texture' with the snowflakes falling etc, burning in the shadows lost some of that effect, which makes the large print really neat.

FYI.. 100% of a bit of the trunk on the left to show what I mean..

I can relate to your having 'seen' the B&W in Snow in the Oaks. It really is appropriate.

And Thanks for posting those, it was 92 and very humid here in Baltimore today. Your snow shots are refreshing.
