I broke [well, not me, someone else who will remain nameless] a borrowed lens. Now need to replace it.
Anyone know how much [in CND] a Canon 28-90mm Ultrasonic [UV Haze] lens goes for??
I can't believe I broke it...just when I was giving it back...somebody kick me...hard...right between the eyes...that'd be great. |

Hey Lori!
That bites! The lens is about $90 USD. Dunno what that translates to in CND. I will do some more research & hit you up.

Assuming it's the f4 lens... $80 on B&H, //www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&index=Y&kw=CA28904EF&is=GREY&Q=&O=productlist&sku=206433
Shouldn't make a huge dent in your checkbook, just be glad you didn't break any L-glass. |

That same lens is $299 at Vistek in CND...crazy...
Well my boyfriend and I [I borrowed the lens from his very anal retentive friend out of sheer desparation] were just returning from a horrid attempt to find me an apartment..I was just finishing complaining about not really have enough $$$$ [even after busting my hump with my job and my photography] to pay first and last month's rent. I gave him the lens to bring it back, he hugged me, and as I stepped back he dropped it. I saw the thing bounce in slow motion. The insides are like marbles now. I'm very disappointed it happened. Nearly depressed. Considering I have a 10D sitting upstairs with NO lens period cause I can't afford it.
Oh yeah and the picture for the link posted above doesn't match the lens I have [the broken one I feel like whipping against the wall].

Lori I'm so sorry to hear about this accident. What a complete bummer!
I'm confused about which cameras you own?
You have listed in your profile a Canon 10D and a Canon D60. You've also used a Cano 300D in one of your entries but I'm figuring you might have borrowed it since it's only used for one entry. Plus there's the older Olympus.
How many do you own and if it's more than one do you really need to keep all of them or can you sell the one(s) you don't need to raise cash to a) replace the lens you've broken and b) buy yourself a lens for the 10D if that's actually the one you're going to stick with.

I actually only own one camera - the 10D. The olympus was a camera I used at work last year, the D60 is what I used to use before I got the 10D, and the rebel was an experiement which I sold a couple weeks ago.
I sold the rebel to get the 10D and then didn't have cash for a lens [this was just last week that I got the new camera]. I paid for the broken lens last night and then...to add to my misery....I had to buy a new card reader to get the pics from that shoot off my cards...[my old reader died on me]...transferred one card: success...transferred second card: disaster. The second card crapped out and I lost all the photos. They were all the great photos..now I have to call the woman and give her soem cash back for the lack of photos/variety. |

Boy, what a string of not so good luck. I certainly hope things improve quickly for you. Did you ask the owner of the broken one if he had insurance or do you? If he's a professional, it's pretty likely he would. Then he could put in a claim and give you the money or the replacement you bought. It's a long shot but such things have been known to happen. |

Thanks for the concern! Nope, no insurance, but my ever-willing mom kicked in whatever I was lacking. I think I'll finally be a grown-up when Mom's not standing by with money in-hand. |
