Since you guys are always better than tech supprt....I'm having a "purple" problem printing from Photoshop Elemnts. I used Microsoft Digital Image Pro 7 prevoiusly, and still have the program loaded, when I print from that, the image is perfect. The Elements program is much better..but, I am still learning it. There is a lavender cast in both print preview and the resulting print. I am sure this is something simple...but I can't figure it out (tried several images) Called Epson ..they told me to call Adobe....I am ready to uninstall the program and reinstall. Anyone have a clue?

I'm no expert on this stuff, but it would at least seem clear that if you get that cast in print preview then it's your software and not your hardware that's causing the issue.

I'd be investigating set-up preferences in Elements, myself.

Not much help I fear.

I had the same issue with printing on my 2200 from ULead's PhotoImpact. My solution - I stopped using it for prints.

That doesn't help much.

If you have a 2200, you should give some thought to calibrating your monitor and creating a Color Profile for the monitor. The profile will be used by PhotoShop & the Epson. Apples to Apples.

I prefer the WYSISYG approach.

Actually - you _should_ get an apparent colour cast in the print preview, if the software you are printing from is applying a colour profile for you. The preview (with profile applied) will correctly show the cast.

The problem is probably that your printer driver is _also_ adding the same colour profile, so you get twice the magenta that you should have.

Colour management in printing and profiling in particular needs to be enabled and applied in one place - either the printing application or the printer driver.

I'd go in to the printer driver and in the ICM or ICC colour management settings, set it to 'off' or no colour correction and see how you get on.

This will mean that you can only successfully print accurate colour if you print from elements though - casual stuff like maps and text will be fine but photo printing would not work well without an application that does profiling.

You can also do the opposite - switch profiling off in the application and leave it on in the driver, but the results are less controllable.

More succinctly - check your printer driver settings. Switch off colour management in the driver.
