Yes,I am looking for not expensive camera as a gift for my son's 11th birthday. He didn't have camera before,so he needs something simple.
I don't want to spend more than $150 dollars.
Can anyone recommend me something, please? |

Not too sure about what kind of digitals are offered under $150. I'd recommend something like a nice Pentax K1000 35mm SLR. |

Snapshot camera or some advance settings?
Does it have to have a view screen?
Do you prefer a particular memory card?
Megapixel size? Will pictures be printed or just viewed on computer? |

I'm very happy with my Olympus C310 (D540 in the states), cost me CHF250 (approx $160)
Everything taken on my website was done with my Olympus

Well,I was looking on cameras like Kodak cx7300, I found it on e-bay.
Here is description:
3.2-megapixel resolution
High-quality Kodak 37mm (35mm equivalent) lens.
Built in flash -- auto, red-eye, fill, off -- for the right light every time
Zoom: 2X or 4X magnify for a closer look
Multi-up images to compare shots
Fast scroll to edit, tag or delete pictures quickly
10-second self-timer lets you get in the picture too
Color mode: color, black and white, sepia
16 MB internal memory plus MMC/SD expansion slot lets you start shooting right out of the box
This looks ok,but I want to know if anyone has better suggestion.
Thanks. |

As long as you're looking at ebay, shop around for a used 2 or 3mp cam from Canon with a zoom lens. Something like a used A70, A60, A40, or even an A20. These cams can be picked up quite cheaply but are quality cameras that should be sure to please. My daughter has an A60. Excellent little cam.
The Kodak CX7300 has a fixed lens. For $150 you should be able get at least a 2mp cam with a real 3x zoom lens (not the digital zoom, which is not really zoom at all.)

I've been extremely happy with my Canon A70. And my first entry at DPC didn't do that bad. I would highly recommend this camera for someone just starting out. It has enough for a beginner and intermediate photographer. And it's very good on batteries. (4xAA preferably Nimh)

I can highly recommend a Canon A-class. I've got an A70 myself, and it offers a great deal of simplicity to just pick up and use, but also has manual features/etc that can be used as your son's experience grows. |

I would also Recommend the Canon A70 or A80. I was very happy with mine, also has the advantage that it uses Compact Flash cards (CF), these are normally cheaper than other varieties. Also uses standard AA batteries which are also cheaper than Special batteries.
NOTE: If you don't have one already wou will need to pick up a NiMH battery charger and I recommend 8 batteries (This is 2 sets of four) and at least 1800 mAh. |
