Canon 10D
Have Sigma 12-24mm lens, and need a flash that wil cover that angle.

What flash is recommended for this?

Remember, it has a very wide angle, and I would like the flash to light that whole space.

I'm not fussed on the manufacturer, but Canon would be better.

The 420ex and 550ex will do it. My 420ex broke the night I got mine and I am a cheap bastard so I replaced it with a Sunpak 555 flash which works quite nicely.

The 420 doesn't work so well with the 12-24 unless u use the omnibounce... the 550 does better.

Yea true, I did have my omnibounce on the couple times I was able to use the combination.

Of these flashes mentioned:
Might be a silly question, but, like the camera (10D), is there a "P" option for (essentially) point-and-click?

Yeah both of the canon speedlites (420/550) have auto TTL (through-the-lens) metering. The Sunpak 555, as I mentioned earlier, is a manual flash but you can get a TTL adapter for it.

Who in the world need flash on 12 mm lens?

Portrait of a person will look totaly weird !

Canon 550 EX has 17 mm bounce glass and 24 mm low setting.

Indoor arcitecture shots, wide angle is VERY useful in these situations. It also works pretty well for other shots, take a look at this one I did:

Yep, also remember that on a DSLR, a 12mm lens is about equivalent to 20mm lens.
