Expensive, but way cool for now and then mailings...

Stamps.com has been given authorization by the USPS for custom photo postage stamps

In Australia you are able to buy sets of stamps that have an extra bit where they will print your own photo or message. It's great for wedding invitations and stuff. It's not quite the same, but cheap :-)

Would be cool for special occasion mailing... about the only time I snail-mail anything anymore!

Only problem is it's about double the cost of normal stamps. :-(

that's really cool. I'd buy one set of stamps and they'd last me about 3 years. :)

The images would probably be smaller than their thumbs. That would make for a killer round of voting.

'Photograph the image you would use as your custom stamp' or 'Photograph and show us the image you think the Post Office should use for their next collector's stamp'.

I guess it would be an open challenge of sorts.

Not too terribly expensive if limited to special occasion mailings. This is definitely not what a person would use to make a payment on the phone bill.
