Some of the most difficult challenges require us to find beauty in the inherently unappealing. As with the Habits and Garbage challenges, it can be pretty nasty when the photographer doesn't. |

"One thing I've realized from" .....many recent comments on the forum, is that many are very critical of REAL PEOPLE. REAL, "yeah I"ve lived life & LOOK LIKE IT" images.
There is beauty to be found in there ya know. Not eveyone is silky smooth, with straight teeth, no blemishes or scars, with perfect measurements.
I may have been closer to that in my younger years, but 3 kids later things are different...and not where they used to be! lol Skin shows lines, body changes shape....but does that make me UGLY? No, it makes me HUMAN...just like everyone else here.
There is LIFE behind those marks & rough skin & I find these comments very judgemental sounding.
Maybe the photographer hasn't put the subject in a "good light"....fault that, not the person in the photo....You don't need to be physically perfect to be in front of a camera & get end up with a great image.

Whoa... easy Nancy. I don't think anyone here implied that we couldn't find perfect feet to shoot. I was only commenting that feet aren't very attractive in general. |

I hope Bongo's image isn't posted too often here, as it will only make the poor guy feel worse for the error. Don't want to step on his toes. |

Not everyone has ugly feet and I don't have pretty feet but I do admit to having a very artistic foot that gets attention....

That was created from this photo....

I requested the yellow be replaced with pink.
I did debate about using a photo of that now healed tattooed foot but knew to many knew it and well I came up with something I really liked without using my own feet.

My photo is doing pretty well, and I have hairy feet, and I pick my toe nails, and had an ingorwn toenail removed a couple months ago, and the nail still hasn't grown all the way in.
And that's on the foot I used for my photo. It's all about angles, lighting, composition. Anything can be made to look good. |

Sorry scalvert, it wasn't just this thread that prompted it...it's something I've noticed before & again more recently with the "New Model" thread & this one. Maybe it caught me on a bad day ;) But just cuz a person isn't perfect doesn't mean they can't be in a top notch photo. People like that model are self conscious (& in turn tense in photo shoots) about things like braces & such because of other people's judgements on those types of things. To me, there's beauty to be found in all of it....from the model's braces to my stretch marks ;) The challenge, as stated earlier, it for the photographer to depict it properly. If the photographer fails, what could have improved the results should be discussed, not the persons imperfections. Just my .02
I'm in "teach the kids lessons in life" mode here today & I think it carried over....lol

naw - I don't think that'll make any of them toe the line. you'll just have to hold their feet to the fire until the bad blood between you goes away and the old wounds heel.
:)
