groan, another ps question ....sorry guys :)

When you've been using an adjustment layer what should be the last step before saving it....merge layer, merge visable, or flatten image and what's the difference between them all? I've tried them all and can't seem to notice any difference which could be my shonky eyesight, or that I've been staring at the monitor for too long! ....monitor's ok

thanks

I like saving as a PSD file then flatten and save as jpeg, tiff, or whatever format.

I like to keep an original, PSD tweaked version, and the download file.

thanks faidoi....you save it before flattening? Is that so you can go back and work on the layers later if you need? And what would you use the merge layer and merge visable for?

Sue. I use psp but it has some of the same options. Actuallly I have merge down, merge all(flatten),merge visable, merge group. If you are only using two layers (background and adjustment layer) all you need to do is flatten. When you use more than one extra layer you can use the other commands to get more control over which layers you merge. Merge visable you use when you have toggled off some layers (or just one) so they are not visable anymore. When you merge, that layer or layers will not be included. Say you have 4 layers and you turn off one layer on the layer pallette and choose merge visable, you will have two layers left after the merge. The one that was turned off and the merged layer.
The merge layer I'm not sure about because I don't use it but a guess would be that it merges the selected layer to the one just below it.
