So I officially suck at making decisions; there's something seriously wrong with me. Both my photos suck, mind you, but I submitted the one I thought was more creative. Anyhow, how do you feel about my alternate:

Anyone wanna share their rejects?

I think your alternate is good - only comment is that the focus seems to be on the larger items and the detail of the miniature isn't that good. Probably would've given it a 6.

Here's one of my rejects (didn't enter anything):

Thoughts?

I was afraid people wouldn't be able to tell the leopard print object is a regular sized hat. :o)

Yea, I think you might be right. I have a tendency to overcomplicate things.

Only got one comment on my reject (posted above) so far - any others? I did it last minute, and did not have any time for a reshoot to fix the blown out highlight...but how is it otherwise? Interesting, boring, how would it have scored if submitted?

Visiblanco- that's a pretty good one. I had a similar thought last night... I have a tiny pair of glasses that I was going to place on a Wall Street Journal with a few pennies: "Penny Stocks for the Small Investor." I misplaced the glasses, so no shot.

Then I found a tiny elephant figurine that I was going to stand on a peanut, maybe with a giant, defocused mouse in the background. I didn't have a peanut handy, though, and it was too late for a trip to the supermarket.

I expected a lot more miniature food shots. It would have been a simple matter to create a tiny box of Frosted Mini-Wheats and park it on a spoon over a bowl of the real thing.

Another thought I had was to flatten a box of mini-donuts, scan it, then print it out and assemble a tiny box. Dip Cheerios in chocolate and...

Patents4u- you've got a "wheel nice" miniature object there, but the context isn't very exciting. Gotta get the voters talking/laughing if you want to break through. Maybe position it in place of a lug nut on a full-size chrome wheel? Maybe you could have taken all the wheels off the model (stripped it) and put it in a real street background with graffiti? Do something with "Baby Grand Theft Auto"? Just a little more imagination would help many of the entries IMHO.

Sort of like the one I'm upset I didn't choose, since the one I did has dropped half a point in about 6 hours.

Sort of, but I think "Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats would be even better. ;-)

I did not enter but this was my idea, took a test shot of the setup I had in mind.

I submitted my reject shot. Actually, it was my only shot taken with 15 minutes left before the deadline. I can't believe it is sitting at 5.000 I have to start getting my ideas a little sooner.

Wow I thought folks only wore leopard print western hats on Sunset in West Hollywood over at the Viper Room or the Wiskey, I sorta figured that you could get hurt wearing them in Texas. And they say this site isn't educational.

Even though I love cowboy hats of any kind - I think that leopard print hat is great........ someone once said that you could raise your IQ ten points when you take a cowboy hat off your head.
