Well, I've always heard about the birds and the bees...so THAT'S how they do it! LOL ;o)

bees or wasps... It doesn't matter: dangerous sex!

But seriously, ellemay, I like the shot of the insects themselves - but the background isn't terribly flattering. Same problem I have when I try to get macro-insect shots. But you've defintely got an interesting angle going with the insects themselves!

It doesn't look to me like they are mating. At least not yet. Nice capture though. I agree with bacchus, The background isn't the greatest. I know how hard it is trying to get live bugs to pose. I haven't tried photographing dead ones but I think it would be much easier. I kind of like the satisfaction of getting a great bug shot without staging it. If this was your runner up, I can't wait to see the one you entered.

well my runner up may have been the wrong ( and very different) choice. The background was troublesome also, I agree. But they were not DEAD bugs (as jacko uses : ) ) and I had no intentions of getting stung for the shot : ).

Now I'm thinking of Olympic Insect jokes - not just insect sex jokes.

Hey, they can do it or wrestle or play cards or do anything - just don't go stingin'...!!!
