Does that mean if I get them all right, you'll give me a "30"?! =)

Oh, Kirbic, for you? Yes! :-)

Ok that`s an amazing shot the suggest moon (if you like to suggest something) and show blue, what scream blue.... my favorite shot for the blue challenge.... where is the ribbon ???.. WOW

Mine is always too studio technical shot... no wow factor but ok technically... i must put more wow in my shot, more artistic view.. what i know i dont have but work a lot to make it append...

Anyway, you dont have to agree my rating point... by any way the best shot get in the first 10 with all the voting pattern combined... bravo to blue winner....mmmm maybe too late to say bravo... maybe good luck is more appropriate...

ciao

I've waited a long time for a speed challenge (I was on vacation during the last one- near the Banana River), but I'm going to sit this one out. Lack of ideas, mostly. Between allowing advanced editing for an open challange, and the potential for voter confusion due to the challenge title, I can imagine this one getting weird.

I was going to cut a bunch of giant "number ones" out of blue construction paper and hang them from the ceiling in my kids' room, which is painted with blue sky and clouds: "Ones in a Blue Room."

More for a chuckle than a ribbon. ;-)

how does the voting work for speed challenges? is it speed voting as well, only 2 days?

From the submission page:

Challenge Details: In honor of the blue moon tonight (for at least most of the world!), your challenge is to compose an interesting photograph where the color blue is a major component of your entry. (Try to be more creative than a hue-shifted picture of the moon!)
Challenge Type: 48-Hour Open Challenge
Challenge Rules: Advanced Editing
Submission Deadline: Aug 1 2004 (began Jul 31 2004)
Voting Dates: Aug 2 2004 -> Aug 8 2004

There will be a week-long voting period. I think this is good as it gives people adequate time to comment.

O.K. this is the blue moon in Colorado. I "swear" I didn't actually see two moons. This is right out of the camera - no post-processing. I used a tripod. Any ideas as to why I got that 2nd moon in there?

i just spent the past two hours out on the open sea in a friend's boat (made even more exciting because of the impending arival of TS alex) and got nothing! it was completely beautiful and unbelievable, yet i soon realized i didn't have the lens i needed for such gorgeous, yet dark shots. such a shame. this should be a lesson to not procrasinate in ordering lenses! :)

It looks like lens flare to me. Kind of like you get when the sun is visible in a picture, it makes a series, often, of spots across the lens, diagonally, so it intesects the center of the lens.

I agree, I think it's when you get internal refractions among the lens elements ... it is a common problem when you have one brightly-lit spot in a dark scene.

Thanks! If you look at the larger image you can see lights in the sky above the moon that look like reflections of the lights on the ground.
