Yip, swear at me as much as you like! Vent that anger at getting a score lower than you wanted.

I'm editing a guestbook's code for a web site and I don't want any users entering words that they shouldn't be. So, if a user enters a swear word, only ***'s are displayed.

As I've never said a bad word in my life...... (no comments please), I need to get a list of any kinds of bad words people may use in their message.

Don't put them in the forum, but if you e-mail me naughty@brownt.co.uk or PM me I'd be very grateful for your help!!

Be as rude and/or as horrible as you want, I won't take offence. (Well, may see some of you in a new light!)

It's for this site. The guestbook there just now won't actually work, so just creating the new one.

If it was a personal site I wouldn't bother too much as I can edit the comments when I need to, but as this one should show a professional image, I want to keep it clean.

I think this list of swear words is fairly complete, or at least a good start.

But, a quick glance through the lsit will show you that trying to block swear words is not an activity to be taken lightly -- there are far too many common words that when put together have a profane meanings. Also, a person does not have to use a term that is considered vulger to swear or curse you. (May the fleas of a thousand camels dwell in your armpits for a thousand years.)

You will do far better with an active moderator and a strict no-bull stance on inapropriate behavior (make sure what is inapropriate is lined out clearly in the terms of use).

Thanks David, good list.

It's just a guestbook, the comments will be posted to the page once they click on OK. The page is viewed quite frequently and a few people will know that admin password so they can edit posts if something slips through.

I've already got the main ones they we hear everyday, should be coveref for the most offensive ones, but I take your point about what is offensive to some etc.

LOL, try this site of Shakespearean insults.

Or this.

Example: Thou frothy guts-griping foot-licker!
