The best way to keep this bumping is to ask "Which state has the best BBQ? " =P I've had grilled but never real BBQ =(

Well, since the 17th fell through, anyone have any thoughts about meeting up somewhere in OK for maybe a Sept. or Oct. fall DPC get-together? Doesn't have to be Beaver's Bend...it could be anywhere. Let's get some ideas going! :o)

I'll be there. Doesn't really matter to me where, as long as there aren't many power lines around (suburban curse on the photographer) Beavers bend sounds fun, and honestly Sept. sounds better as far as weather goes anyway. If anybody else has any ideas, speak up. I am in OKC and Laurie is in Texas, so somewhere north texas, or south ok. anybody got any suggestions?

I would love to go to turner falls, but that is getting further away from you. I've been to sulpher many times, and have heard great things about the falls. Honestly, I have thought about making an entire series of photos of waterfalls, and with one so close, it makes sense. But if that is too far for you, let me know. Also, My son's birthday is the 14th of sept. so I imagine that we will be doing stuff the weekend before. How does the first weekend in sept. sound?

Sounds good...the weekend of Sept. 4-5. Now...I don't really have a preference as to the destination, so long as it's somewhere I can get to in less than a day! Beaver's Bend is only about 2 hours from here, whereas Turner Falls is probably closer to 4. Makes no difference to me, but Beaver's Bend is so pretty. I haven't been to Turner Falls in a very long time, so I don't remember that much about it. The website photos are beautiful. If we can get some others interested, maybe they'll have some other thoughts... anyone???

Thanks...I'll check my messages when I get home from work. :o)

You know, D&L should consider creating a position within the SC for an official DPC Get-Together Trip Planner...wouldn't they have fun?? LOL

I forget that my email from here goes through our cable internet provider...and I can't check it anywhere but at home. Try the one I just pm'd you. I guess I should change that on my preferences now that I actually have to be at work (ugh)...LOL

I'm in between Dallas and Fort Worth and was wondering if anyone did get-togethers like this. I'm a newbie, though, just to warn you. :) I'd be interested in a trek up north, although I might have plans that particular weekend-- but if so, I would like to meet up in the future. I'd like to hang around some award-winning photographers. ;) Congrats, Laurie, on your $100 win!

sorry it has been a while. I am up for it. Laurie and I had also been talking about a trip to the big "D" maybe we should make that sometime soon. Let us know what dates are available on your calendar.

Pick one... any one... Dallas is close enough that surely something is going on in any given weekend! LOL

I saw that Beavers Bend was a point of interest. I am from that area and I can suggest that you consider Lake Raymond Gary at Fort Towson (about 50 miles away) it is less well known so you will be able get in. There are numerous beautiful camping places that are within driving distance of Beavers Bend. Check for State Parks in the area and you will find several alternatives. Also, a couple of points of interest. Weelock Mission is between Fort Towson and Broken Bow. It used to be an indian girls school. I believe it is the oldest church in oklahoma. Fort Towson is, of course, the location of an old fort which is also interesting. Everything in the area is exceptionally beautiful this year since the weather has been so mild.

I have a two year old, which makes these outings a little more difficult. I am jealous. Best of luck.
