I was in Munich on business, and had a Friday and Saturday off, so I rented a Mercedes with some friends and drove to Venice. I only had my S40 with me, as I didn't know I would be doing sightseeing, so I couldn't get too fancy. These are a couple of the better shots from the day:

Well, it WAS crowded and expensive, so don't feel so bad!

Did it smell bad at this time of year ? How far was the drive from Munich ? I've spent quite a few weekends there and never managed to be sober enough to drive very far. Always wanted to get out to Neuschwanstein castle though.

The smell wasn't too bad. Apparently they've put a lot of effort into cleaning the canals and lagoon up. Every now and then I'd catch a whiff, though.

Drive from Munich was about 5 hours, or would have been, if we didn't stop at Lago di Garda on the way. Really a great drive, through the Alps and Dolomites.

It´s expensive for sure. Even more expensive than Iceland. But it´s also an amazing place for sure.

Sounds fun - I'll keep it in mind next time I'm in Bavaria. Last time I was in Venice was about 10 years ago - glad to hear it doesn't stink so much in the summer.
