Me too... going to the Phillies Game. I think I'm free on the 31st; so long as I am, count me in!

I am flying into Philly on the 29th from LA. Can one of you tell me which is the best way to get from the airport to Marlton/Cherry Hill, NJ? I am sorry I'll miss your get together, but I'll be in NYC that weekend (my birthday). Philly is my family's hometown, but I live in Los Angeles. I'll be flying back out of Philly on Monday...

Are you renting a car and driving from the airport?

no no. My aunt lives in Cherry Hill, but will be at work. So, I was going to take a bus or train or something. Not sure what will take me there and the cheapest, fastest way to go...

A lot depends on where in Cherry Hill. Where does she work? It might be easier to meet her there.

so we are in agreement for the weekend of the 31st and/or the 1st?
I was thinking we could walk around Old City/Penns Landing area. Anyone else have any other suggestions?

31st is best for me. Can we somewhere near Market East station? If we do the 31st, the Reading Terminal Market should make for some nice photo-ops.

I can do either day. Lets just say the 31st. Reading Terminal Market is a very nice place. We can add it to the list!

Have fun you guys! I love Penn's Landing and old Philly. I wish I had more time to spend or even meet up with you all. I look forward to seeing your photos!
My aunt said she can pick me up at the greyhound station in Marlton since she works down the street from there. So, I need to get there. I am going to check around online to see if I can find a train to the 30th street station or Penn Station, then catch a Greyhound from there or something...

Ok, I think I've pieced something together for you. Here's what you need to know:
SEPTA's R1 Airport rail line has service every half hour to Center City Philadelphia (full timetable in PDF format here). The inbound trains reach:
Airport Terminal E: :09/:39 mins after each hour
Airport Terminal C/D: :11/:41
Airport Terminal B: :12/:42
Airport Terminal A: :13/:43
Market East Station: :40/:10 (this is your destination)
The first train of the morning starts from Terminal E at 5:09 AM. The second train is at 6:09 AM, and thereafter they run every half hour until the last train at 12:09 AM. If there is a ticket machine on the platform, you must buy your ticket before boarding the train to avoid a $2.00 surcharge (no surcharge applies if there is no ticket machine or open ticket office). The one-way fare is $5.50.
New Jersey Transit's 406 Bus serves Center City Philadelphia and various points in both Cherry Hill and Marlton NJ (full timetable in PDF format here). You will probably want to coordinate with your aunt to determine which location is best for her, but will want to make sure you are on a bus that actually serves that location, as it seems the route varies somewhat from run to run. It appears most buses service Virtua Hospital so that may be your destination of choice.
To get from Market East station to the 406, follow the signs within the station to the Gallery. Walk through the Gallery mall up the escalator to street level and exit to Market Street.
If you get to the surface and you are NOT on Market Street, walk to the nearest corner and check the sign. You will be at the intersection of a named street and a numbered street (for example, 10th & Filbert Streets). Look at the TOP of the sign for the NUMBERED street (10th in this example) and you will see a pair of numbers and a directional indicator, something like:
<-- 99 N 1 --> (link is to a sign photo)
Market Street is the cutoff between north and south so you will want to walk toward the lower number.
Once you get to Market Street, locate the nearest NJTransit (NOT Septa) bus shelter; I believe these are the green ones but in any case you will ne a NJTransit logo on them. I do not have fare information or know if exact change is required, you may wish to call NJTransit at the number listed on the timetable.
Now... all this said, if it were me I would at least price out the cost of an airport shuttle service.
Happy traveling!
-Terry

yeah 4-5 people is good for me :)
Location: Old City, Reading Terminal Market, Possibly Love Park/Art Museum Area?
Time: What time do you think? I think the earlier the better. I know terry is coming from Lancaster area so will take him about an hour to get here. What time works for you all?
