Bought this lens about two weeks ago and I love it. It's taken me some time to figure it out, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it's "powers".
My daughter hates getting her picture taken, but she was hamming it up last night in the tub. I spent a lot of money on the lens, but these pictures make it worth every penny. I'm a proud daddy, so I wanted to post the pictures... sorry if the cuteness factor offends some of you.;)

You are a fortunate young man Todd. Beautiful wife and child. The second photograph of Madison is especially appealing, her eyes are marvelous. |

Super cute!! That looks like it'd be a nice lens to have. Maybe she could use a new friend? My son Mason is always looking for new playmates. :-)
(OK, now I think the cuteness factor of this thread has far exceeded it's quota) ;-D |

Great shots, Todd. I'm getting this lens for good here in just a week.
What did you use for a light source? I love the catchlights in her eyes. Do you have enough light in there for ISO 100 or did you have to raise your ISO?
Thanks for sharing.

Well, my middle guy is probably too much of an older "man" for Madison, as he is "shaving" now! LOL Great shots, people. Love them!!!! :o)

The 85mm f/1.8 is a fantastic lens and a bargain from my perspective. Depth of field is pretty shallow at f/1.8-2.0, which makes focus a little bit of a challenge, but the results are fantastic. I would love to try the 85mm f/1.2L, but that is an expensive toy.

Thanks for all the comments. I do feel blessed to have a beautiful wife and daughter and even more blessed knowing I have another little girl due in December. You'll all be seeing a lot of her!
Kevin - Thanks... I actually have a cheap Promaster FT 1700 flash that I was using in conjunction with the light in the bathroom. The flash was really blowing out the photos, so I used my hand to bounce the flash off of. I didn't use any special settings, just used the portrait setting. I need to learn a little more about all the other settings before I can try to set my own.
Here is another I took with the lens
