Thanks Coolhar
Iam over halfway and have found that we have some really good images at one end of the scale and a lot that tried to bring balance into it but did not succeed, i thought this one would have been quite easy to do but some people seem intent on the old shoehorn technique.
But honestly the standard is first class again of the first 70 i have voted on , 23 have 7 - 10. |

Among other things, balance is a state of equilibrium or a harmonious arrangement of proportion. Take a shot that illustrates the concept of balance.
remember to let go of literalism |

I've actually gotten quite a few positive comments on my shot, which at 3.97 and holding steady, is probably going to be my lowest ranking ever. I may even win the Brown! :D My original idea would have been more mainstream but my daughter was feeling somewhat cranky and unwilling to pose. She's a dancer and I was going to photograph her in a difficult position (such as some form of attitude) at the beach, standing in the waves. It was a red tide and had also started to drizzle. She didn't want to go in. I don't blame her.
I actually was going to use that idea originally for the Freedom II challenge but didn't make it to the beach. I was going to call it Free Spirit. Imagine my surprise when I saw a very similiar idea and it turned out to be the Blue Winner.

I really don't think voters are looking for a harmonious arrangement of proportion. I think they are looking for an obvious arrangement of balanced objects. |

Considering the wording in the details a too literal interpretation of what meets the challenge is inappropriate this time. But sometimes I get the feeling that lots of voters don't bother to read the details. |
