I know a lot of people didn't like my entry for words, but I'm going to post the version I wanted to submit. When I took the photo, I thought it was advanced editing, so this is what I wanted it to look like:
What I had to submit for topic:

I think it makes a subtle but distinct difference, which may have adressed the concerns expressed by some.
You might add your post and the link/thumbnail to the edited photo in the comment thread of the entry photo. That way anyone who views the image page will see it, not just those who read the forums. |

I didn't get around to voting for the words challenge so this is the first time I've seen this shot. But if I did vote, I would've given it high marks (regardless of which version you submitted). It's a great idea and with powerful execution. |

I love the shot. Very daring and original compared to most seen here. Alot of people wanna see purdy stuff, and not usually the darker side.
those words are none new to me. I get called them almost daily as an ED RN. Sad huh? To help and still be verbally and emotionally abused. Strikes a cord here. Nice work!!

It was one of my top 20 so I DID like it but I do think it's weak technically even with the edit. It's the lighting really...

It was in my top 10, I really liked the idea and the pale atmoshpere. To be honest, I like the b&w you submitted better than the one with the red words, it's more subtle.
However, I have the feeling that pictures with a strong negative message don't do so well here on dpc, usually the feel good pics score much better. |

Thanks guys.
I guess most people like the original version. So I guess it's just that I'm a big fan of selective desaturation that I like it better, but it's good to know the one I submitted is better, so thanks everyone for giving me your opinions.
GeneralE-Thanks, I'm putting a link on the photo page.
Kavey-Thanks. Yeah, the lighting is a little weak. I don't have any lights at the moment (I'm working on getting some), so I just used the one light on the ceiling, whiched worked good enough to get the shot.
Phileine-Thanks very much. It is definitley more subtle. And I've submitted a few pictures that display things negatively, and this is the first to at least get over a five, out of three photos. So not too bad. :) Even though it's just barely a 5.
Dacracrazy-I feel you, for what that's worth. And thanks.
C-Town: Thanks a lot! |

I really found your shot to be powerful.. I agree with KV about the lighting, but I think the composition was excellent. I also like the b/w version better, but I can see why you might like the words to be red (seem to bite even more when they are in colour like that).
