Hi guys!
I want to explain a few my feelings about the decission of my freedom submission.
As some comments said to me, it wasn´t a good choice to freedom, because they thought it wasn´t freedom. I respect your opinions.
When I decided to submit it, I was thinking in the rain and its freedom. Because, you never know where the rain will happen, and its drop can take a different direction by means of the wind. I know it is an abstract idea of freedom. I´m not dissapointed with all who votes me slow, no problem, I know it was an open idea. Thanks to all the comments and the votes.
Take care & Have fun! |

Don't worry about peoples comments, If you like the picture, that's important. On my advertisement picture, I had a glass of milk and to do a bit fancy I've put it in a wine glass, well I got voted down because it wasn't the right glass. I even got a comment on my freedom picture because it was not centered to their liking.
Alot of members are closed minded and you shouldn't have to explain your artwork. I voted you a 7 for the quality of the whole picture. Congrats!

I love your picture... Take the comments with a grain of salt. Remember "Different strokes for different folks"

Sorry, but random chaos (of rain changing directions in the wind) does not equal freedom to me. Even if I did equate wind-blown rain and freedom ... you didn't take a picture of said wind-blown rain. The image, while well done, does not convey what you were thinking -- at least not to me.

ok, i dont want this to be taken the wrong way, but here is my 2 cents. Please take as constructive.
a_berenguer, although your picture is pretty cool, i sometimes feel that the photographer just randomly looks through their recent photos during the challenge and then makes a broad leap to the current challenge theme. In this case, your picture for freedom would have made me think that way. Its hard for me to imagine someone specifically looking for a water drop from a leaf to signify what they think of as freedom. I think that even if that was your intention, you will possibly get a couple voters that think otherwise....
If you submit your photos for yourself, you should be happy regardless. if you submit for votes then you have to think about your audience.

Regardless of any comments or challenge considerations, your shot is lovely to look at. Good work. Let the philosophers' discuss freedom. It is such a wide meaning term, but we know, most members want simplicity on the challenges. Well universal notions are just too wide to hem into a definition. I notice there is a problem when a term leaps into the abstact realm. Good picture and I got your meaning much like I did with girl smelling the yellow flower. |

I am a terrible speller. I tend to read the word that I know that I wished to write and often can not see the misspelled word that I did in fact commit to paper, I fail to see the flaw because knowing what I ment to write because my intention overides my perception.
I do the same thing to a lesser extent in my graphic work. Sometimes knowing what I wish to convey I am too subtle in conveying a point to an audience that is not capable of being with me in my thought process.
To make up for this blind spot I try to show a shot which I intend to submit for the challenge to a few people and ask them to use a single word to describe the image or a feeling it evokes. If they don't get near the challenge topic in the first twenty or so words that the shot evokes in them, then I missed the challenge. If I like the shot enough I might submit any way, but I won't expect to do well.
While your shot was beautifull and technically adept, I would have gotten quite deep into the dictionary before I would have used "Freedom" to describe your lovely flower in the rain shot.
