Hi everyone, I'm a new member here and I am always impressed by the pictures I see on this site. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a digital camera for someone just starting out. It would have to be in the cheapish range for the moment, but I'm hoping that the bug will catch and I'll fork out more on another camera later. I live in scotland and I'm hoping that I can take some great pics of the countryside, that's when it's not raining that is! Cheers.

Sorry also meant to ask about a pic which was why I put this here. Does anyone remember a pic where a girl had her back pierced along each side and then the rings had ribbon through them as if it was a corset? Maybe it wasn't here but it was such a great pic.... anyway, any ideas on this one?

I believe the best all around quality camera for a beginner is anything made by Canon.
A fantastic Canon, the Pro 90 IS, can be found on eBay for under $300. Features a 10X zoom
2.7 mp image size and best of all, a builtin image stabilizer. The sensor utilizes a CYMK+G mask instead of the typical RGGB mask.
This seems to result in lower noise, especially at low light levels.

thanks very much for that. my other half has a Nikon SLR camera and he's thinking of going digital. I think we'll be having to swap crimble pressies of digital cameras! It's mad too coz he's spent about £1000 on an SLR and everyone had told him to go digital before he got that one.....

thanks, the details on each camera seem to be very indepth. That looks like what I need to keep me right when I go to buy a camera.
