Following on from the other Mill thread I was looking for another sky shot to practice on (Thanks for the tutorial Heida). I came across this shot and after hearing a few peeps suggesting to leave alone I'm posting this after just a little curves adjustment. I'll have a go at playing with the sky later. Hope you like? There is a little green in the foreground, any suggestions for picking this out?

Thanks Rooster, we moored up for the night outside an animal sanctuary (and pub)at the Acle Straight on the Norfolk Broads. I was actually taking pics of the sunset and when I turned around spotted the mill with the sun on it.

Thanks riggs, was taken outside of the challenge dates and to be honest I wouldn't have thought about taking a picture like that for balance but I see what you mean, maybe I should pop over there tonight lol.

Well here goes, absolutely no burning or cloning on the final version cos I cant do it
I'm going to submit this for a dpc print and sized it at 4500x3000 for a hq 15x10 for myself. Not sure "waiting for the sun to go down" is a good title (suggestions)and how much space do I need to leave at the edge for a board?

Hope you like

Thanks Kylie :) just looked at the exif data and it was the last pic I took when I was 44, maybe there are better things to come in my 45th year on this planet?

As a newbie I'm chuffed that peeps have selected me/my pics.

Yes Kylie, it is fun but I must stop taking so many pictures as I seem to spend more time viewing/editing pics than I do taking them! Another pastime of mine is bonsai and I really wish I started that 20 years ago.

The late sun on this windmill is magic! Fantastic shot. We in the U.S. don't see much of this type windmill and your's is a treat.

thats a great shot
but I think the sig will be to big on a 15x10 print... it seems to over blance the photo..it looks like picture wants to turn to the right with it there

sig maybe some or all..
1 smaller
2 other side
3 pick a color from the photo (gold of the top arm ??)

it all depends if you title it

Thank-you Gordon :)I'm glad to show you a little of the English countryside, though to be honest I don't get to see such a beautiful late sun cast here either. Sailing on the Norfolk Broads for a week I will pass maybe 100 windmills in differing states of repair. I guess I was in the right place at the right time for this shot :)

It is all very time consuming, isn't it? First you take them, then you view them, then you edit them, then you post them, then you realize you need to brush up on your software skills, then you . . . .there's no end! And the rest of the time, you find yourself on DPC.

Thanks Keith, the print still has no sig or title on it (the sig on this pic was sized for the web) I like the idea of a golden colour for the text, just need a title???

Just desatuarated everything but blue and cyan to emphasize the power of the wind. Unfortunately this windmill has not worked in a long time.

Here you go tyt2000, did a quick desat on this. I prefer the colour version and think B&W requires more work?
