This was my first attempt at shooting a humming bird.
I had my iso at 800 partially because I enjoy grain, and then so I could shoot fast since it was cloudy out. Shot at a 5.6, I believe, and 1/800 of a second. Or somewhere around there.
I don't know how the background got that way, since it's pretty much just a brown wall, but I like how random it is.
Update: It was just slightly cropped, and it was vignetted already, but I added the vignettes at the top since I cropped it away early. It was already there, though. I also shot this at 300 ft no IS or tripod, so I don't know if it's as sharp as it could be.

Hmmm, it seems the wings are still a bit blurred, try using a flash. Also, I'd prefer a closer, more creative crop of the bird, and if possible maybe show it feeding or something.
Just my 2 cents. |

David...for a first attempt at those fast little suckers, I think it's excellent! I love the muted tones of the background and the negative space doesn't bother me. I bet with a tripod, and maybe a flash, as VisiBlanco suggested, it would be even more amazing. Great capture!!!
