UGH!

Seems my June free study shot didn't grab you voters the way it did me.

(Original sunset shot).....then my 280th (27%) place!

I hit invert by accident during the PP and never could let it go.
(I also knew in advance it would not do well, not appealing to many/most)

Until the inversion, I was going to use:

Hey, at least I didn't do a flower!

I really like the desert/sand dune shot personally.

I also liked the sand dunes alot.

Very digitally manipulated images never do well on this site.

Oh well. Live and learn.

The original is better for my tastes. I like the sand dune also.

I had a similar tower picture a while ago, I thought it was really great but no one else found anything exciting about it.

Live and learn. I liked the effect, but would have preferred either of the others for the challenge. Obviously manipulated shots always get killed in voting... 27 votes of 1 or 2 on a Free Study-?

Hi Brad, I like the sandscapes the most.

I've been meaning to get down to your area (poway) and the surrounding areas (Anza/Borrego) for some time. I would like to go before the summer heat arrives. Have some good pointers for photo locations? I have a jeep, so most locations are reachable.

Hi Shannon,

Guess I wanted to walk down a different path. One that is not well worn and familiar - little challenge in following others all the time.

This image pops off the page in a way that is hard to describe. Very few images ever look really interesting when in negative, and this one seemed to be an exception. The placing didn't bother me one bit, as I already knew it would not do well, especially against the caliber of photographers here having an entire month to do their best.

The (10) 1 votes and the (17) 2 votes is my only let down, especially in a free study. Free thinking is where I was at.

Oh well, bottom line is that I like it and that is really the most important thing!

Regards,

I feel the pain Brad, I got stuck in the "Artsy" mode as well and was going to do something like this...couldn't get it out of my head.

but I thought the photocopy filter might have been too much for folks around here. (no flowers either)

Would be great in a publication as artwork. Good stuff.

I know this car! I have taken at least 100 photos of it at car shows. If it isn't the same one, I would be amazed. It makes a great subject, doesn't it? Andy, yours is great!

Can you put that pic in your portfolio? I really want to add it to my favourites, it's fantastic! I'd love to see it a little larger with more detail.

Put in portfolio, the 640 version doesn't do it justice but is larger than a above. I call it Christian Dior #640 because that is the color if you was to get matching nail polish, I know this because that is the first question my wife asked the owner.

You should take a picture of her nails, and give her hands the same outline treatment you gave the background ....
