So, I am out with my wife watching a movie and while the film is going...
I am thinking to myself, "Wow, that's a really good choice for the DOF in this scene."
Of course, I continued to critique some of the shots in my head ... |

I constantly look at things like that these days. I even look at things that they may have edited as well, like if they have cloned something or taken things out of the shot or even added something in.

Yeah welcome to the club, guys.
"ooh that would look good in bw!"
"nice DoF!"
"ooh, rule of thirds!"

I'm getting into screenwriting, so I promise that you're not annoying your wife at the movies nearly as much as I am. ;-)

I suggest you watch the movie "The Man Who Wasn't There". I have a feeling you'd still be glued to your seat a few hours after the movie is over. |

Well... I wasn't quite so annoying about critiquing the shots on screen... I kept that little nerdly thing to myself...
What I ended up doing though was quietly filling in the backstory of all the 'supporting' characters in the movie... (Spider-Man 2) |

I think Philip should stop annoying Nelzie's wife completely - at the movies, or anywhere else!

hilarious steve! :)
minoring in film and video production almost ruined the entire basic movie-going experience for me, as i would analyze every scene to pieces! interestingly, since getting into still photography, i don't do that as much anymore. or maybe it has just become inherent and i just have ceased to notice it. :) |

I do stuff like that.
But I'm also a film production major.
I always love the movies my parents never see, and then hate the crappy ones I see with them. |

I don't have a tv but we have some at work. When I go on break I watch some news and I keep thinking about how the people look like they have had too much ni applied. Has anyone else noticed this? It's not just the makeup that makes them look so plastic, it looks like a lot of filtering has been added. Or maybe they are cheap tv sets. |

I was watching "Cold Moutain" this past weekend...in the shot where N. Kiddman's charater is looking out side and touching a first snow....I thought to myself....BAM, tha't a great shot for a still....the snow was pure white and the look of peacefulness on the actresse's face was perfect with natural light...great shot...come to my amazement, on the DVD, there was a still done of the scene...so the location photogragher saw it too....:)
I do often have found myself even to watch movies (to get away from photos for a while) and still look for shots...of course they are copyrighted...however, ideas.... |

I started to see the world in b/w when I started my first photography class. I looked at shadows and light in a totally different way. You're not the only one who does that.
