Well, my wife woke me up at 4 a.m. telling me that a car and a house on our street were burning. The firemean were already on scene when I got out of the house, so I grabbed my camera and tripod and went outside. I stayed well away so as not too get in the way. The fire was already out when I finished setting up. Couldn't get clear shot of the house, but I still took quite a few shots, including this one

f8.0 ISO100 0.3 sec

f25 ISO100 1 sec

Shot with camera on tripod using timer with my super crappy Tamron 100-300 f5.6-6.3 @ 152 mm.

No one was home at the time, so no injuries. They are in for a bad surprise when they come back home from vacation...

Well, I have an update. The firemen responding to the fire this morning found a marijuana grow in the house where the car caught fire, Police found over 100 pot plants growing in the house. Dude was arrested but he's back home tonight. Scum in the neighbourhood... just great!

Needless to say many in the neighbourhood are going to keep a close eye on this guy from now on.

Many in the neighbourhood think the fire was a "hit", and police haven't determined if the fire was caused by the car being booby trapped. I'm just glad no one got hurt. Hope this loser moves away... soon.

Denis,

I thought that you were working as a K9 Officer for the Canada Border Services Agency. And as you say in your profile, "Very proud to serve my country and it's people."

Some beagle doggie that you have protecting us from the evils of drugs and such! Is he just trained for plants and sausages and not narcotics?

I thought that your narc dog lived with you at home? Did he not tell you that there were drugs right next door? When you took him for a walk, did you have to drag him past this house? I heard that they sit down when they sense drugs, what happened?

Is he like this Beagle? This one is the world's worst hunting dog?

I had thought that he was more like this elite airport detection dog?

Perhaps, he needs to go back to school like this new student?

Of course, I am just pulling your leg here. But, it sure struck me as funny to think that he was right next door to a "grow Op". I trust that you see the humour too.

Cheers,
Michael

Thanks for the humor, but my K9 is NOT cross-trained as a narc dog. He is not trained to "hit" on drugs. The CBSA has specially trained customs dogs for this task.

He's an Agriculture Detector Dog trained to locate various types of food, plant and animal products. He is one of the tools used to help reduce the risk of the introduction of foreign plant pests and animal diseases and plays a role in keeping Canada safe from bioterrorism. Also, the dog doesn't come home with me. He is kenneled at a special facility.

Thanks for the interest.
