I have spent the last 2 weeks flipping between 2 possibilities for the June free study.
In the end I went with my favourite, which is doing ok, but not nearly as well as I had hoped (is sitting arounf 6.0).
The alternate entry though just won the first prize I have ever won!!! It picked up the monthly prize for the theme category (sports/photo jpurnalism) on the Australian Photo of the Day site. That has landed me a subscription to the magasine that sponsors them. I will not pretend I am not over the moon!
Entry is below ..... comments more than welcome.
Please stay tuned for the inevitable "did I enter the right one" thread I will start after June voting ;)
Never won anything before :) :) :)

Wow! Congratulations!
The image is really eye catching - sharp, vivid colors - beautifully done! And this is your reject?! |

Yeah Digistoune, my reject .... but a reject where I was showing that and my entry, both quite different photos, to heaps of friends and got a 50:50 split on which to enter. Annoyingly my camera murdering girlfriend wanted this one here, so doubtlee I'll never now hear the last of it.
Link is in my signature (now) Faidoi, have been meaning to put it in there for the last few weeks.
Thanks for that comment photom. Annoyingly, the week I took the photos they were not suitable for the challenges here so I only had the June entry option. I think it was plane/trains that week ... though it was flying, I thought that rather a push, or choices ... and I think titling it "which way up will I land" was again trying to squeeze it in somewhere it didn;t really belong *laugh*

Congratulations! Great shot. It's got that motorcycle-in-the-air look and water at the same time, so this has DPC winner written all over it. ;-)

Stunning shot Simon. Sharp as a tack and full of action. Nicely composed too. Thanks for reminding me about POTD - haven't visited that site for a while (too busy DPC'ing).

Congrat's my friend! Ahh, it is true that things are upside down in Australia! :) Wonderful shot...I have tried to capture jet skies myself and it's great fun...However, here in middle America..there are no waves...
:( Just cows and corn...perhaps I can get a photo of a cow rideing the "waves" of corn... :) Ha-Ha...take care.

Hehehe, like that idea Dustin. Thanks for the kind words everyone ... should have definitely entered that shot in the June study, not the one I did.

I don't beliebe that!!! I never even spotted it there, and now the link to my photo and one other seems to not work, I can just see it should be there.
Flipping BBC, all I asked was that if they used it they would let me know so I could go and look .... and I only spotted it then as you told me Imagineer ... grrrrrr
