Placing? Aweful. Learning? priceless! I had always wondered how this was done. Now I know. And I appreciate all the wonderful, awesome pictures you all produced. You all are incredible!!!

I am in awe that I ranked 116th for this challenge.. not even in the top 50%! Was my entry THAT bad? I felt it was my best entry to a challenge so far and I've had lots of experience with this technique.

My 1st entry, ranking 84th place, taken before I had my Rebel, with my Canon Powershot a40... I think that's not bad. Not bad at all.

I didn't enter in this challenge because of lack of time. But, my favorite was this one and it ranked only 50th, really surprised.

Ooh, thanks for highlighting that (I didn't get chance to vote so hadn't seen it yet).
Too subtle for the voters maybe?

And congrats to Laurie. I love it when somebody who's so obviously having fun takes a win : )

I was at the beach and was using my laptop computer away from home. I captured a pretty good picture but did not see the blue hue and oversaturation in the picture when I used my post processing technique on the computer I was using. Many people commented that the picture was good but the desaturation spoiled the result. I ended up with the poorest score I have received in some time.

Well, it wasn't me, I gave you a 9. But lately I can't make sense of the overall ratings based on my scoring, sometimes I have to look for my ribbon picks after 100th place :-(

I had high hopes mine would score better. I really think it's a technically good capture. The comments I got helped to clue me in.

122nd place.

I played with this shot all week long, I learned burning and dodging, still have more to learn. Learned about some of the other filters and have a great shot as a result!

Thanks to Konador for all his help and patience!

I give up!! I sat out several challenges trying to "learn". All that got me was a very low score. My comments were positive so somebody please help me with this picture. What should I have done differently??

This was my original submission:

I went with my entry because I wanted to share it with your peeps more than the other one. I got 25 great comments too.

Absolutely delighted to get a third place as I honestly did not think I had a chance.
My wife says I have to retire now that I have completed a "full set" of ribbons..but I think she has an ulterior motive there, like a back garden to be rearranged and various other wee jobs.
Thought I would include a full size shot of the old deserted house that I happened upon out of chance..(sitting in the middle of a field several miles into a rather remote glen in Perthshire) with this post as it might interest some people to see the full location.
I had to negotiate a barbed wire fence then slid for about 10 yards down the slope on my behind, coming to a stop a few feet away from the house.Had a quick look round (as you do)hoping no-one saw my fall from grace..composed myself and took several shots.
I did notice a cow a few yards away which seemed to have an amused look on it`s face, but other than that, I think my blushes were saved by the remoteness of the location.

Sadly, I am unable to upload the image at the moment as there appears to be a problem onsite.I`ll try again later.
Thanks to all for the votes and comments.
