If I get one more comment regarding the darn title on my submission I think I might burst..
as far as I am consurned I dont mind much about the title let alone leave a comment on the title not mentioning the photo!
I think I might put an Icelandic title on my future submissions:p

Titles are funny things, imho a 'good' title that lends itself to the image works much better than a title that shoe horns an image into a challenge or has nor bearing on the picture. Am not suggesting yours is either of the latter but maybe it doesn't fit the image for the majority of voters? I don't see any weird titles in your profile so I guess I'll have to wait and see.
A title in Icelandic sound nice, and am sure you will get many comments from the people that take the time to go and translate it - hope they take the same time to view your submission ;)

This is really to bad. I have one shot that took 3rd and I think if I had a different title it wouldn't have taken the top 10.

Well maybe in some challenges a title would matter some but in Color Portrait I think the title has zero value....
Its not like I had the title in mind when I excecuted the shot.
Most of the time the title comes after the image, and in this case it was really the first thing that came to mind since I wasnt gonna use the name of my model!

this portrait challenge is quite interesting I think: perhaps the first challenge I've voted on that has almost no room for interpretation in it: it's just about interesting studio-type portrait photos, and not even black and white at that. So far, commenting has been a reallly dull process, and I'm not sure that I'll go much further - I just see almost no room for imagination in it: a purely technical challenge, which is hopefully what decided me against submitting the shot I'd taken.
It was highly educational playing with those processes: but the end result remained pretty dull, and i fear I'll be giving the highest score to a shot I actually don't find all that interesting.

Some people vote my image down because "is too good for nrwspaper",or headline should be "so and so" !
Nobody is looking at a real art here ! |

Hmmm. Some people don't like comments that are too nice.
Some people don't like comments that are too rough.
Some people don't like comments that comment on the wrong thing.
Some people feel sad when they don't get enough comments.
Oh well, I like 'em all. So send them my way! :>)

And some folks would argue with a fence post! Ha ha ha
What I want to know is how come so many people look so remarkably pissed off in their portraits? Have ya'll been pissing off your models!? Following them around with your camera a wee bit too much? |

...I'd imagine most of the "models" are really "spouses" in disguise...which means the answer is OBVIOUSLY "Yes." ;o)

A title is part of the photo so if it's really bad it needs to be mentioned. However, a good title should just fit seamlessly into the overall presentation. They're a bit like borders in that respect in my opinion. I've never liked titles that explain technical things about a photo or ones that explain irrellevant things such as:
"Photo of a tree (I didn't do any editing! This is real!)"
"Silence (This is a photo of my 3 month old niece)"

I hardly even look at the title when giving a comment. Maybe if I truly don't understand it. |

If it`s the portrait I`m thinking of..I scored it quite high and left a comment ?
I don`t really see a problem with the title, I thought it was quite relevant to the image, but then I`m maybe on the wrong picture ?
