I want to get some good pics of the moon, (not for DPC obviously!) and some of the best ones i have seen have been 5 or 6 images on top of each other. Now i know i can use photoshop to layer the images but can anyone tell me any other tips on how this is done?
Cheers,
Sam. |

I'd actually like to see a nice overview tutorial on layering and masking. I hear so much about it, but I don't know how to do it. Who will write one?

There are some articles (and nice images!) on Robert Gendler's site, including one on Luminance Layering in Photoshop.
There is also a book called Photoshop for Astrophotographers. |

You might find some useful info here.
I coupled my Rebel to an 8" Celestron last weekend and got an exciting first shot of the Hercules Cluster (M13), but I need to learn more. Focusing was the hardest part for me. |

Check out a program called Registax, which is designed for layered multiple exposures of astronomical photos.
Do a forum search too, as there's been several threads on this topics, as well as some fine moon photos posted by DPC members. |
