...Fit into a 640 pixel square without jaggies and loss of detail, is what the description should say. Ok, I will jump on the band wagon of those who think 640 is too small.

I know...bad timing since we just ran out of disk space, but sheesh...I can not squish a 8MP (I'm finally getting the framing of shots down right and using the full frame) 3264x2448 into a 640x640 square.

I've got 4 cd's of pics I shot this month and I'll end up submitting a bird or a flower cause I can't make the really good stuff look good in that small a space.

Ok, I feel better now...

Yeah, I've had to settle for some disappointing crops with that restriction.

What type of resizing do you use? I've resized 5mp down to 640 on the longest side with no jaggies at all. For resizing I like to use Photoshop or PS Elements and chose bicubic as the method to resize. Once you have resized you can "save for the web" on Photoshop or Elements, it seems like you get very little loss this way and you can get as close to 150mb as you can without going over.

Personally, I'd rather see a photo with a little loss of detail than have to scroll around the screen to see the whole thing. There is no way you can judge a picture by seeing one section at a time, if you can't see the whole thing at once you can't really SEE it. Just my HO.
