THE BLUE RIBBON (ARCHIVAL)
Select one of your blue ribbon images to enter into 'THE BLUE RIBBON CHALLENGE' competition.
Think this would be really interesting to see how all these top images score and who wins and with what.
Could then do the same with RED and YELLOW down the track.

interesting idea, it just decreases the pool of possible participants.
Maybe just call it a "ribbon" challenge - any ribbon? |

It would need to be the “Ribbon Outtake” challenge. You’re not allowed to enter the same image in more than one challenge.
I applaud the enthusiasm, but don’t most (many) people already do this any time an Archival challenge is run? |

I think RamblinR was talking about a temporary suspension of the rules. It's an interesting idea.

Interesting idea. However, if the images already ran in a race here we can see what the scores were and I doubt they would change much. We'd just have the highest scoring challenge, collectively, in DPC history. |

Two possibilities similar to this.

Homage To The Bottom 1000 - Show us your take on one of DPC's lowest rated photos and turn it into something extraordinary.
We could run this with the Top 1000 (or 500 or whatever)

Masters' Free Study III
Only those users who have placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in 2 or more challenges are able to participate in this challenge.
This has the downside of limiting the pool of people when we are trying to grow our memebership |

I just went through completed challenges and found it hard to find people that didn't have ribbons.
Now that the amount of entries has come down to between 30-60 in the recent years compared to 700-900 in the 'golden days', many more people have ribbons than would have been possible before.
Also, there is often challenges that will not suit everyone.
Even a simple challenge of 'Portrait' can leave many people out of the competition as they have nobody they can shoot for it.
Not every challenge is suitable for every person for one reason or another.

What you are asking for isn’t really a challenge, it’s a gallery exhibit. No new photo required?! |

Maria - I appreciate your newfound enthusiasm for DPChallenge and I'm happy to see you being active here once again. I remember many of your entries in the past. Some darn good stuff!
This conversation prompted me to take a look at your profile and was somewhat surprised at how long it's been. Nearly 5 years since your last challenge entry and almost 6 years since your last forum post. One thing that stood out for me was that 7 of your last 10 entries were for Archival challenges. Is there a reason why you've chosen not to take any new photos recently? I hope all is well?
I think many of us would enjoy seeing some new work from you. Grab the camera and jump back in! :-) |

Wasn’t actually going to enter.
Just thought it was an interesting idea.
A ‘Gallery Exhibit’ you said - yes and how delightful to see all the amazing images in one competition.
At our camera club we would have an ‘image of the year’ category for a judge to select what they considered the top image from place winners from the year. This was a thought from along similar lines.
Maybe an idea for an annual challenge seeing there are so many winning photos in an annual year so would be for members only
Whilst the judge would be the members for this challenge and may recognise the images owner I think this community is mature enough to just score an image on their personal favourite.
No verification process needed as all have already been verified.
I pop in now and then
Sometimes vote on the challenges that I’m allowed access to
5 years - time flies
Really not sure why I posted this suggestion. It popped into my head and I thought it was a good idea at the time.

LOL - our club does the same, and I HATE it - never know which image to post, as usually the ones "I" like are not the ones that do best in voting.
