I took these the other day but just now got around to processing and posting. Any comments or suggestions for water/sky captures are appreciated. These were taken using the .7x wide angle and a polarizer. I did boost the sats in the blue channel a bit on the lake ones, and a bit of dodging in the dark clouds on the sky one. Thanks for your guidance! :o)

The colors in all 3 are beautiful but I especially like #3. It almost looks like the heavens are pressing down on the earth. It would interesting to see what would happen if you cropped #3 on the left a little more to bring more focus on the dramatic clouds. |

Like that? I see what you mean...it does draw more attention to the clouds. Thanks for your help! :o)

Thanks...if you recall, my wide angle was the subject of my ethical dilemma a while back, but it all turned out well...especially since I got it essentially for free! :o)
Thanks again!

Out of curiosity, what equiv. focal lenght does the .7x give you? |

Well, I would tell you but I have absolutely no idea... LOL
The box it came in says 27mm (35 mm equiv) for DX-6490. The lens on the camera is 38 to 380 mm. Does any of that help you at all? :o)

38 x .7 = 26.6, so 27 is close enough for me. :-).
I'm looking at getting the .7x for my G5, which will give me 24.5mm equiv. I'm just trying to get a feeling for what it's really going to mean in terms of field of view etc.. (Got the adaptor, but not the lens, saving pennies)
Looks like your 27mm is doing well, that's a lot of sky you're covering in those shots, without any obvious 'crazy wide angle' distortion. |

great shots laurie. I love my wide angle. I use it often, and my second hightest scored pic was the result of using it. Have fun. I'm really glad that delema worked out for you as well as it did.

When I had my G5, I was looking at getting a Raynox 0.5x adapter, which would be just that much wider.

Looks good! I hope you get some more good ones. I like the last one the most. They all have good color to them. |

Thanks for your comments...I appreciate them all. I wish there were more scenic vistas in our immediate area, but I'll be getting to do some traveling in the next few weeks before school starts again, so I'll be posting some more before you know it! ;o)

Anyone with an EF lens mount should seriously consider the Sigma 12-24 for an ultra-wide lens. It's not the fastest on the earth, but it's certainly not the slowest.
Mega wide, and an Aspherical lens element means no fish-eye.
Best bang for buck if you're looking for ultra-wide. |
