a few weeks back i entered to a poetry contest at www.poetry.com. and it turns out one of my poems is now a finalist and they are going to publish it in a book.. i was excited and thought i would share
here it is:
SOOTHING DESPAIR
The man revealed himself
He named the night “loneliness”
He called for revelations
With the sound of his “bitterness”
And so the night became “loneliness”
Soothed he was,when night was fire,
he named “bitterness” after you,
As the fire became his urging desire.
Poor man mumbled “something, something”,
It was something about the moon and the moonlight too.
Stripped from his shoes and his shawl,
He surely was eager, oh so eager for you!

really.. that sux.. but i submitted 2 poems and they selected one of them.. but you are probably right..

well at least now i can brag to people that i am a master poet and that my poem is getting published and all.. not everybody knows it is a scam ey?

| I know you don't like them but DeviantART also has a poetry/prose section for people that write. |

yeah, i got their letter too, i didnt send then any money tho. im too cheap for that. |

Theodor--I do like this poem a lot. Don't be discouraged!
You might want to check this site for legitimate journals, magazines, and calls for submissions.

I went through the same thing with poetry.com. It is a bummer when you realize they are just trying to sell very expensive books with your poem in it. This doesn't mean your poem is bad, it just means that site is preying on your hopes and dreams. horrible. Keep writing.

| My mom fell for that scam. She really thought they loved her poems, and were sending her to Washington DC for a big dinner and presentation.:( They took her for the cost of the book but mostly her pride. Very sad but she didn't know any better. |
