As long as DPL is on I enter. Just bc we don’t place is no reason not to enter - even in football all the teams still play out the whole season.

I wish that all these new rules discussed in the Captains thread were known to the general public. I thought this is what this thread is for. There may be others who missed out on this DPL but may be interested in DPL7, maybe they need to know what this new DPL is about?

I am happy that you get to play in the Playoffs as you really wanted to. If our teams get through Round 1 we will meet in the finals! Everything is still possible :)

Sure, that's new. But it was ALSO discussed here as well (go back about 20 posts). In fact some of the posts were duplicated in both the Captain's discussion and here. Mita also updated that on the DPL Overview areas (although I think it still needs some edits).

Trust me, you didn't miss anything in the Captain's PM discussion group. :-D

Barry, I don't give a damn about details of your discussions, just that the outcomes are well and timely communicated to the wider DPC community. I don't believe this has been the case.

And don't forget that the current winners of both Conferences could become losers in the new system. We are fine with that for the sake of participation but it is a bit unfair.

After all I was wrong with 8 teams. I advocated 4 teams for the playoffs, 2 per Conference, supporting Wendy's idea (see her earlier posts).

I think it would be fairer if the winners of each Conference would automatically pass to the semifinals and not have to fight for the place in the finals again. Mita, can this still be done?

I guess it is too late to do this for DPL6 as the teams who came 4th would be very disappointed.

What about doing DPL7 this way? Only 3 teams advance per Conference and the winners of the regular season go automatically to semi-finals. I think 8 teams is too many.

DPL5 had 2 teams in one Round in Playoffs. By 4 teams I meant 2 top teams per Conference. As I was not involved in refining the idea of increasing participation I had not opportunity to clarify this.

I think half of the teams into Playoffs is OK (3 top teams per Conference) as per my previous post, 75% (4 top teams per Conference) is questioning the purpose of the regular season.

Hey Margaret, it would be better to have everything cleared up in advance. The 8 teams playoffs idea was indeed late. It was raised in response to requests to lengthen the season playoff phase. I decided to go for it as it was embraced by the captains.

The 8 teams playoffs as implemented is not uncommon. I don't think it nullifies the regular season achievements as the team ranked 1st competes against the team in 4th place, so it has an advantage.

I see value in the suggestion you made regarding the playoffs structure. So for DPL7 we will make a survey and decide based on the results.

Thanks, Mita. I noticed that we are playing 4th rank but this is a very strong 4th ;)

With the total of 4 teams (2 per Conference) I thought every team will play every other it did not play before resulting in 2 rounds. Then finals with top 2. Your solution ensures maximum participation with the highest number of teams. The problem is that it somewhat dilutes the wins of the regular season.

I will look forward to more ideas for DPL7 engaging opinions of all DPCers interested in DPL.
