When do Playoffs start? The overview page says:
"Season Playoffs: Oct. 6th, 2025 - Nov. 4th, 2025"
The Calendar of Events shows Playoffs start date 29th September. |

Sorry for ambiguity, I meant 2 teams per division going to Playoffs. Mita is yet to confirm that he modified the code. |

It was very disappointing to see so many concept type topics during DPL first rounds. Historically I believe it was always a bit more balanced. One challenge more traditional/technical (Shallow DOF/Leading Lines/Reflections as example) and one more conceptual. It started off well, with the scapes and negative space but sort of ended a bit meh.
It would be really nice to see that balance restored for the remainder of the season.

I agree. A lot of challenges were never played before and came from some obscure posts on Challenge Suggestions forum. It would be nice to have a more balanced mix. |

I didn't feel there was an imbalance. Out of 10 DPL challenges at least half (Landscapes, Unusual crop, Long exposure, Negative space, Silhouette) were squarely what you call traditional/technical. The rest were more conceptual, but still pretty straightforward, perhaps except for Bold. |

Priceless and Bold were both, notably, in Round Four.

Nope. Not even in an obscure post. I had a brainstorming session and just let the ideas flow. I intentionally chose topics that hadn't been run before. More of a challenge. No prior running to influence what to shoot or what to expect (from a voter's standpoint). I'll admit, I did go a bit heavy on the conceptual ones and have dialed that back a bit. But I'm still trying to stay away from the XIV running of some subject that's been beat to death if I can help it. In general, I try to keep the more technical / learning subjects for the open challenges (non-member) and the more open concept/subject types for member only challenges.
One thing is for sure - you'll NEVER make everyone happy all of the time with challenge subjects / themes, etc. :-D |

I called them "crap shoots" and, though challenged and often frustrated, I was honestly grateful for them. They weren't any easier for our team than for anyone else, but at least I didn't feel defeated before I even started.

I thought the challenge subjects were locked in a queue well before they were run. I am surprised that this wasn't the case. |

So long as its not a subject previously run in a past league before - that will make me happy (lol) |

No. Previously they were setup on a weekly, or if it slipped someones mind, daily basis. When this task was handed to me last December I scheduled them out for the following 12+ months. Some changes were made along the way as fresh requests came up, etc., but at least I wouldnt have any rollovers without anything queued. With DPL I needed to revisit what was in place for league play to keep it interesting and balanced (for the global audience we have). |

Theres always a mix of opinions, and its totally fine to express them it just shows how much everyone cares!
We all come to photography from different backgrounds, and thats part of what makes it so interesting!
Some people are lucky enough to live in breathtaking landscapes, while others might be based in areas that dont seem as photogenic at first glance. Some have lots of free time to dedicate to their hobby, while others are juggling jobs, families, or other responsibilities.
A few might have access to a fully equipped studio or top-of-the-line gear, while others are shooting with just a basic camera or even a phone. And you know what? Thats totally okay. All of this cannot be taken into account when designing the challenges.
So its impossible to make everyone happy all the time (if someone figures out how, let me know!). But hey this site is called DPchallenge for a reason, right?
As for me, Im honestly just grateful for the people who keep this site running like coming up with all these creative challenge themes. Thats no small task, and youre doing a fantastic job! Thank you! |

League overview page should have December 10 for the end date of Round 3.
Scheduled Matches are also wrong as the next round cannot start before the results of the previous round are known. Am I right?

Scheduled Matches page is correct. We (SC / Mita) confirmed it last night. Overview page does need updating.

How do the Playoffs work? I understood that the Winners of Round 1 will play in Round 2 so how can they be known before voting on Round 1 challenges finishes? |

They won't (the results) be known initially. Although you would have one week after knowing (two week submission window) who you're playing if you advance.
Just figure that you won and charge ahead I say! :-) |

That means I would have to enter these challenges even if my team may have lost. I don't like this, sorry. |

No matter what IMHO entering is always the best idea - bc you add to the pool of entries - thus a better shakedown of entry scores.
As long as DPL is on I enter. Just bc we dont place is no reason not to enter - even in football all the teams still play out the whole season. |

I guess I can always unsubmit my entries if my team lost. I am not interested in entering challenges that don't count to DPL, sorry again, but I am here only for active DPL challenges. |
