I just got my second ever top ten photo for Planes, trains, and automobiles. I was very excited, and glad that people liked it. But just when I started thinking I was getting better, I am pulling in my lowest score ever for selective desat. and I would guess it is one of the lowest scores in the challenge.

It's the way things go around here...a virtual roller coaster!! I loved your P/T/A shot and I am so glad it was a top tenner. You'll be back before too long, I know!!! ;o)

I know how it feels... managed 8th place in PT&A, now I have a 4.52 with 38 votes in the selective desaturation... and I really, really liked my selective desat entry. Oh wellw.

| That's my standard MO. My worst finishes usually follow entries that scored 6+. I think Drew has built in a clever reality check mechanism just to keep us from becoming overconfident. Man, they thought of everything! |

| Just remember that selective desaturation, macro, flowers, and foliage are the most overdone subjects in photography. As such, it takes quite a bit more effort to impress a judge (or panel of desensitized Web geeks). ;) |

The desaturation is only my second challenge. (I am new here) I can't believe the score I am getting so far. - 6.3626 The funny thing is I used my remote control to take the picture of myself and hoped for the best. My first challenge was Waiting. I placed 93rd. I was pretty happy with that. I also entered the News challenge and my score is only 5.0897 I thought it was a kick ace pic but I guess I was wrong. It isn't as clear as it could have been but I took it from my car at a stop light from a 100 feet away. Then I cropped the crap out of it at least 90%. All the comments I got on it say that I should have used a better heading. Maybe that is why the my score is so bad.
This site is too cool! Does anyone else keep hitting update ever few minutes? |

Well, my scores are quite consistent.. mostly in the 5's :( went just below 5 twice.. and broke the 6 barrier twice (barely!) .. my current entry is at 5.6.
