After a long steep learning curve that took much longer than we anticipated we have launched our WeRetiredToSwitzerland Youtube channel:
We Retired to Switzerland

There are two new videos with my husband's narration, one about Bad Ragaz with its tri-annual sculpture exhibition, the other about the history of Devil's Bridge near Andermatt. If you are interested, enjoy! :)

Hello guys. I never shared a video where I mainly spoke in Italian, but I noticed that English automatic translation is not that bad nowadays! I guess it can be interesting because it's about the new pages which share fake photos generated with AI starting from real photos. It's VERY bad because people who don't the places and who don't realize what's going, believe they are real. Many photo of famous places like Reynisfjara or Kirkjufell in Iceland, Trollstigen road in Norway, Lofoten or Banff National park. I explain that showing some example real photos I shot compared to AI generated stuff. I hope you appreciate the effort:

Stop with AI generated landscape

I posted a comment on your video, the English translation of subtitles is pretty good but it messes up the names of geographical places.

I used two AI-generated images on my squirrels video, they are very obvious. My husband used a goat and a devil AI images on the video about Devil's Bridge, they are also very obvious. Well, at least to us.

I think that the "fake" reality existed before AI, just it was not as prolific and easy to do.

I am very interested in your take on the ice jewels on the beach, I will go and watch them now :)

It took a lot of time, but I managed to edit the video I filmed in Iceland last winter (Snaefellsnes peninsula). I'm very proud of it, especially about the music which took more time than the whole video editing, but I'm happy because I finally used my brand new 8 string guitar for it - a touch of folk meatl ^___^

Beautiful video Alex! Stunning scenery well captured. How long did you spend there? Seems like each little sequence (and there are dozens of them) was taken on a separate day, in quest for the best possible light

Thanks Lev! Yes, it's been a real quest. I spent seven days, but Snaefellsnes is not huge. I got an apartment at Grundarfjordur so I was super close to Kirkjufell and at not more than one hour from all the other places like Londrangar cliff or Arnarstapi. I spent one afternoon under the rain in order to study to shoot of the next sunrise. And then weather rewarded me with a stunning aurora on the second day and snow on the fourth day. As usual it's a mix between luck and resilience, especially for the VERY low temperature of the first days - the main aurora night was at -11/12

Stunning imagery and powerful music, amazing, Alessandro.

As a newbie video maker, I have a question, in some sequences did you fly the drone backwards or did you reverse the footage in post?

Definitely a good question: in this video every sequence is moving in the same direction as shot. I love to fly backwards. You needs to be more careful - I always check everything before - but you can get great shots. You can imagine that the first sequence was a tricky one, even if there was a lot of space, but birds, wind, cliffs and no camera to see can be dangerous. I sometimes reverse the sequences but it's only when there are no elements that can make it awkward like people walking, birds flying, sea, waterfalls etc.

In tricky situations like the one in your first sequence, I usually fly the intended path forward first, and then fly in reverse and hope for the best. Having a rear obstacle sensor on my Air 2 is a great help, of course... However my Mini doesn't have it. Doesn't have any, for that matter ))

I do the same (and in that video I had an Air 2S). When filming I thought "this is going to be a great opening sequence" - I was right :D

It's great to see how a perfect music can match the impressive majesty of Matterhorn. Good job both of you!

In the last couple of years I've started doing video more than photos....however, they're all posted on my FB due to the nature of the videos (videos of me hiking naked). I've always been more of a photojournalist, than artistic photographer and the same goes for videography. None of my stuff is overtly artistic (unless by accident).

I don't have any videos posted to youtube anymore.

I use:

* DJI Osmo Action 3
* DJI Mini 3 Pro drone...but I crashed it a couple weeks ago. I think I've fixed it, but I haven't taken it back out since.
* Insta360 X3
* Canon 90D (I rarely use my DSLR for anything anymore).

I've really stopped taking much of any photos that aren't self portraits/video in the last decade or so. It's been over 4 years since I even posted here.

I thought about this in search of a music to arrange for the Halloween day. So I decided to make my own version of Spiders by Slipknot. It's not easy to do it all by yourself, from start to finish, arranging the music, playing the guitar and creating this videoclip. Everything except vocals recorded by the amazing singer Khaino. This is the final video/music: Spiders

Very creepy, Alessandro ;) What did you use to create the videoclip?

Luma Dream Machine and Stable Diffusion. Some images are directly generated with the engine and others are created in Stable Diffusion and then animated in Dream Machine. All of them upscaled in Topaz. Long but easier than making the music :D

I haven't been across AI lately, it looks that the number of AI applications is exploding. I tried the ones you used briefly and I think you need to be an artist to know what to chose from the infinitive number of possibilities. I guess not many people realize that.

I agree. It's not easy, time consuming but above all is not enough to drop some prompts there. It can be a long study and if you have an idea, a good one, it makes all the difference. What I mostly wanted was to have consistency and show exactly the idea I had in mind. It probably needed much more work, but I can say I'm satisfied with it.

I'm just surprised that people in a landlocked country would even have surfboards.

Whatever...that's really cool and hey, no sharks!
