How do you manage 50 disks, are they all accessible or only the most recent ones? Do you use RAID?

I have everything listed, but especially during busy weeks it's not always easy to keep everything as you wish. They are not always accessible, but I use 3 o 4 disks for the most recent stuff, so more or less I always know where there are the important things. Never used RAID. I spent my life thinking about buying that system but never did

I watched. I enjoyed. Subscribed and will watch more. Thanks for sharing

I finished the first video of our vlog WeRetiredToSwitzerland about our bicycle ride this year over the St Gotthard Pass. The link:

I will appreciate any feedback as it is our first video of the vlog so we would like it to be good :)

I finally watched it, Alessandro. It is good to see that you are trying feature movies, it is a great direction but I have a problem with the subject. At first I thought it had an environmental message but then I got confused, and I hate guns, so pity about choosing this subject for your feature. What about a nice fantasy story? :)

Otherwise great direction, cinematography, and above all music.

ok, you want it to be good, you asked for it. Here are some ways to make it better:

1. no more computer voice. a human. your unwillingness to be seen or heard is offputting. why should we care about your vlog if you're not in it? maybe you're a documentarian and not a vlogger.
2. louder and better music or no music.
3. remove all narration that just describes what we're already seeing. add context or backstory or insight. Either get more personal or more poetic (more of both would be great). you had one lovely line, something like "my bicycle is the color of melted ice." if you're going to leave out the persons and personality then you will need poetry.
4. shorter and faster paced.

Thanks, Don. You are right, I am moving away from vlogging, it is not for me, I never liked being in front of the camera.

I am going to try to combine poetry with some video sequences. My next project is about Matterhorn, I will look for poems (with no copyright) and see what I could do with all the footage I already have of Matterhorn. With music, I have the same problem as with poems, it is difficult to find good copyright-free music for hobbyists like me.

consider not using music, or making friends with musicians.

as to poetry. if you're going to use other people's material, it can be more than just poems. you can read excerpts from all genres, fiction, nonfiction, that apply in some way. i believe that if you credit your excerpts of long prose works, you don't need to worry about copyright. but i'm not a lawyer.

HA! But musicians need to make a living. Unless Paul McCartney would write one, he does not need money.

Great idea with quotations, I found this so far:
"The Matterhorn, that vast pyramid of rock which has been well likened to a cathedral, stood up against the sky, wrought of palpitating light and shade, and dreamy and dim as a temple seen in visions." Mark Twain

I will look for more. Now my footage has to live up to the words! :)

what kind of music are you looking for?

I have no idea, Georges. Although I love listening to the music I am tone deaf so I could not hold a tune or play anything.

Why do you ask?

If it just some ambient music that goes with your clips, I can quickly come with something. IF you wwant more specific sounds and melodies it will take more time for me to compose.
Do not take copyright material.

Thanks, Georges! I did not know that you are a composer too! I have started sorting video clips but it will take quite a lot of time to come up with edited version, I think probably some time in October as I will be traveling a bit in the next 2 months. Maybe do like Alessandro did, look at video and see what music would go with it?

I can say I had the chance to listen to the music composed by Georges and I can say he can create some cool stuff. Why not doing some group content here? Video, photo, music, drone, whatever. We could be the DPC squad ^_^

Great idea! Do you have any images, moving or still, of Cervino? I might go to the Italian side when we are in Zermatt in September. So far all my footage is from Swiss side in winter and it is not great as I am still learning how to take video. I think my best at the moment might be the timelapse sequences.

I sold all my Sony gear but I still have the drone, for some reason nobody wants to buy it so I might cancel the sale. It is not allowed to fly drones within 5km of the Zermatt heliport and nowhere where there are people underneath but I might be able to fly it during a hike high up the mountains. I have my Swiss drone pilot's license.

I looked for quotes and poems about Matterhorn but there isn't much I like, maybe our DPC poet could help? ;)

Much faster than October I edited my timelapses of Matterhorn. It was a big challenge to add text with a story. I could not find anything that matched the images so I had to write my own. As I am not a poet I don't think the results are good. Any suggestions for improvement are most welcome.

Georges, if you have time now, would you like to try to add music? If not, I will come up with something, it is only 2.5 minutes long.

Matterhorn Alive

PS I added a piece of classical music :)

It looks that I am the only contributor to this thread. This time I have a video made from clips taken while skiing in Zermatt this year. The link:
Skiing with the view of Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland

It is nice to see the snow during a heatwave we have here in Switzerland now, Lake Geneva temperature is at all time high of 29C. I think we will need to move to Norway or Iceland soon!

The video has just original sound and no music, no poetry :)
