I can access dpchallenge and the text shows up fine, but the pictures don't load. This started sometime Friday night. I have no problems with any other web site I've tried and I do have a cable connection that loads things quite fast (usually). Oddly, I can click on the place where my current challenge entry is and that page will load--assuming that that page is still in my cache.

Can anyone think of a reason that only this site would act like this? What can I do (if anything)?

I've pm'd Drew and Langdon but have no reply yet. Getting desperate as I would like to submit an entry and also be able to finish my voting on PT&A.

I'm having the exact same problem too, it started yesterday. I can only see the profile photos and the photos i've submitted to the challenges that haven't started yet. Images on the frontpage, portfolio images, I can't see them.

I guess i'm not the only one, maybe the admins could offer some input on this? :)

Thanks...

Turn off any pop-up blocker software you may be running such as yahoo or google. If this doesn't work and you are running Norton Firewall, you will need to make some adjustments to the pop-up blocking features there...

I posted the norton firewall fix here:

I've had "Norton Antivirus" and "Pop-Up Stopper Free Edition" forever and i've never had this problem before, it happened yesterday. I tried turning off the pop-up blocking software but it doesn't work. I don't have Norton Firewall.

I've also logged into the site through my other computer using the same connection and i've had the same problem. Its only the photos on "images.dpchallenge.com" that I can't see.

Thanks for the help though...

jmsetzler, thanks for the ideas, but those don't seem to be the issues. It's not as if I made any changes to cause this--one day it was working, the next it wasn't.

It also occurs in both IE and Netscape--and yet, not on any other site.

I've done the reasonable things: updated and checked for viruses, run disc clean-up in Windows, checked for spyware, etc. Just remains a mystery.

I guess, for now, I'll take comfort in the fact that someone else has the same problem.

Anyone else?

Do you guys both use roadrunner by any chance? I am also having this problem (can't get any images from images.dpchallenge.com), as well as the inability to get to a few other sites. I'm thinking roadrunner is experiencing a routing problem.

I couldn't even get to dpchallenge all day yesterday. I thought the site was down as it was the only site that I could not get to. All the rest worked fine.

Finally I went and deleted all my cookies and the site came up fine. ???

Tools > Internet Options... > Delete Cookies button.

This will of course remove cookies for other sites that you may have logins and passwords cached.

ED: I'm on Earthlink DSL.

I'm using roadrunner too, I just called them and they said that they don't have any problems with seeing the images although we can't. They told me that the site may need to refresh its cache. I've deleted all the cookies and temp files and nothing has worked.

Another thing that I did when trying to resolve my problem yesterday.

Was the repair network connection in Windows XP (I have pro version).

With the XP Pro (a little harder to find in XP home) you can:

Click the Start Button
Right Click My Network Places and choose Properties
Click on the Local Area Connection in the pane on the right
The Network Tasks pane (upper left column) will expand to expose new choices.
Click Repair this connection.

It will run off and check to see if anything got out of whack and if so repair it. Re-establish connections etc... Kind of like reseting your Cable/DSL modem but not.

What OS are you all using/having issues with?

Have RoadRunner and have already used its repair station "Roadrunner Medic"
Have XP Pro
Deleted all cookies--didn't help.
Repaired Network Connection--didn't help.
Went to work computer which might be on RoadRunner(but network runs off its own server)--problem is worse there, can't get much of the pages.
Problem only affects DPChallenge site.

I do see the updated scores. I lose the "MyHome" "Challenges" etc. bar in some windows. (I have to go into threads w/o pics to access it.)

EDIT to add: and Thank You for all the suggestions.
(Where are my manners!)

Basically, the browsers just hang on the load images....

It doesn't matter if I'm signed on or not.
Don't know much about these things but it seems that either DPC is excluding me because of my IP or good 'ol TimeWarner screwed it up again. (Maybe I'll give them a call.)

Did you all get this straightened out yet?

Galimages (my friend who couldn't access the site at all from Friday night until this evening) finally got on line and was able to see the text but not the pictures and now she's seeing all of it. No real reason/rhyme or method. She did all the things everyone else had but it suddenly cleared up. I think it was a Road Runner problem and they finally cleared up the glitch.

Is everyone from RoadRunner that was unable to access images OK now?
06/25/2004 11:26:37 AM · #14
Yes I can see the images now Langdon.

Thanks...

All fine and dandy!
Thanks for the concern!
